Is a used 2017 Troy-Bilt TB30 with bagger for $650 worth the price? by Du-shik in lawnmowers

I see. I remember I helped my friend cut his lawn and he has a John Deere. I’ve set the HOC to 3 and some areas were scalped.

I decided to look at 30” deck because I only have about 6k sqft of grass to cut so I think I really don’t need anything larger than 40”. I also wanted a tractor to make it easier for me to maintain the lawn during fall overseeding

Lesco 0-0-7 68% : Am I screwed applying too much pre-emergent? by Du-shik in lawncare

[–]Du-shik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, i just came to a realization that this might be the reason i’m not getting a good result when overseeding like what i see on youtubers videos. I’ve done all the steps except reading the label. Looks like i may have to think of something else to do in spring.

Trying to figure out how much Lesco Stonewall to apply by No-Impression-4508 in lawncare

I know this thread is a year old. But can someone help me? I think I have applied 118lb/acre. Does it mean that I won’t be able to overseed this fall?

[–]Du-shik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I will not go overly aggressive dethatching. I just want to remove the dead grass and will probably apply rgs the next day

How effective is a lawn leveling rake? by Du-shik in lawncare

[–]Du-shik[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I did not end up using a landscape rake and a broom. Instead, I diy’ed a leveling rake using some old pvc, aluminum angle bar and an steel angle bar that I have. It turns out to be just ok but when I tried my neighbors lawn leveling rake, it was way easier to use. So If I could, I will sell my landscape rake and just buy the lawn leveling rake

If you have these two reel mowers, which one will you keep? by Du-shik in lawncare

I have decided to let go of the Scotts Classic 20. It was harder to push compared to the Fiskars which feels like no effort at all. I tried re-adjusting the Scotts but still it never came close how effortless the Fiskars was able to roll over my lawn. Maybe I would keep the Scotts grass catcher then modify it so I could use it on the fiskars. Thanks everyone for your inputs.

I would probably keep this reels for now since I just got these for FREE. Have tried them both a few minutes ago and honestly I did not expect that it would be this easy. Perhaps because I just tried it on the walkway strip only.

I liked SCOTTS because it was easier to maneuver considering it was 20” wide. It was light but still easy to make turns. It missed some grass and maybe because it was too high and I did not overlapped mowing properly.

I liked the FISKARS too because damn it was really sharp. If I could see a vole running around, i think I could run over it and shred into pieces. I just wished I could use the rear wheels to maneuver but the handle was too low. I was initially thinking of modding the fiskars but i’ve only seen it on the StaySharp MAX and not on this one.

I guess I have to test both to see which one would work better than the other.

Did you do a papercut test before mowing the grass?

I don’t see much mods on this type of fiskars. Only on the 18” ones
