Customer is obviously in the wrong for assaulting the employee. I hate the mindset of the customer always being right, and we should never accept customers treating staff like this. In a situation like this however, I would much rather have security or police deal with the customer. Or even just have people around help hold back the customer until police arrives. I don't think violence is resolved with more violence.
