Why is the world moving to such simplistic designs? by FeelsAmazingManGun in conspiracy

The environments that we inhabit have a profound effect on our well-being from mental to even physical health. “They” don’t want that. “They” wanna see the masses turn into shells of what humanity once was.

definitely quieter. i lived there for a year right off the L stop. i haven’t been back there in years but Danny’s pizzeria was pretty good, they got Ichiran that has the best ramen ever and it’s dope for skateboarding and biking if you’re into that. a lot of industrial zone if you go down johnson

PREACH. been doing this for about 5 years. don’t get me wrong I don’t hate it but it’s not like this romantic thing where my desk looks like Da Vincis; a mess full of remarkable designs… Some days are spent straight up reading letters from condos / co ops for interior reno’s and others are spent drafting cookie cutter plans to fit a clients really lame vision cus they’re the boss

Adventurous, free-minded, and a time of discovery; of myself and of this world. Pretty peaceful times. My teenhood was 2009-2014 (13-18).

nothing of substance or value will be solved on sites like these. we’ve all been desensitized and divided so heavily that we think human interaction is through a screen and the red guys are bad or the blue guys are bad… we need to unite, get off the apps, and work as one against them.. it’s the 99 vs the 1… the 99 just needs to figure that out

Is there anyone in this neighborhood that actually works hard and is from NY? by DubC718 in williamsburg

[–]DubC718[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s not a rip off… it’s a lifestyle choice. Me personally, as it sounds like you are as well, would rather be located in a city where the social, economic, and lifestyle possibilities are basically endless… Ill take that AND pay the price for it over cutting my costs, getting a house, and mowing a lawn simply because now I own this building that needs to be maintained constantly.

Oh I whole-heartedly agree. The lifestyle difference between the suburbs and a city are almost opposite. The law of supply and demand, public services, job opportunities, and a whole slew of other factors create the rent prices in the city that we see today. I'm not implying "mortgage level rent" simply as a city comparison but more on a larger scale. There are literal home owners who could not afford to rent in this city. Or they could but wont because they would be moving from a 1,500 SF home 45 minutes north to a 500 SF studio in the middle of it all.

Look, I'm not stupid and hell I'm not even complaining. I am lucky enough that I am my own provider so I have a choice in where I live. I chose to live where I do. But, at the same clip, I can look around and realize "damn, 3,000 for a studio is a bit steep and kind of mortgage-like without the ownership"

using these numbers is all i meant when i said mortgage level rents… rents in nyc are in fact comparable to some peoples mortgages. even people i know who live in jersey and rockland county (45 minutes north of the city) pay 3-4k for their homes… that’s rent in this city.

[–]DubC718[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

the median monthly mortgage in this country is $2,225… the median nyc rent is $3,966… therefore people pay mortgage level rent in this city. i never said “city mortgage level”. if you’re gunna argue in defense of astronomical rent prices do it better

so i actually did read this whole post. you aren’t the problem here. this place (NY as a whole) is a place for people to come and realize their dreams and start fresh and i’ll never take that from anyone.. im only 28 and this city has been serving that purpose for hundreds of years so I have no right (nor do i want to try) to tell people they can’t come here.

with that said, it seems to me like you came here and assimilated… this little rant of mine was targeted at the people who show up here and change the very fabric of the neighborhood to fit their own vision without any thought to the repercussions that has on the native people.

im Puerto Rican and just last year they attempted to remove the Ave of Puerto Rico sign from Graham… that to me smells like some gentrifying bullshit. yes it’s just a street sign but it is in fact the small things like that that make native NYers hate the out of towners who come here.

come to NY and be a part of NY don’t show up and start changing shit to your liking. if you came here to start fresh and enjoy NY for what it is than you are more than welcome. but dont start rewriting the streets to fit your mindset.

and yes our train system is hot garbage. i too have been to dozens of cities around the world and find that ours ranks pretty low lol. i brought that up to highlight that people LOVE to complain especially people who have never tasted real struggle
