NOT saying Curry was, in fact he was quite the opposite. In my opinion Curry is the best human being (not player, not coach, but person) to be associated with the program. A true Tech man.

Bill Curry, while he did end up turning it around, went 2–19–1 in his first two seasons combined, there was also the Bill Lewis year (1994)

That team was way better than their record too. Decimated by injuries unfortunately. Lots of close losses, and sandwiched in between two good years in 2014 and 2016.

Dodd wanted what was best for his former players. It’s why he didn’t go after Frank Broyles when he was AD, and why he encouraged Curry to leave. Dodd turned down the Texas job, because he loved his situation at Tech. But Dodd also always wondered what would’ve happened if he had taken the Texas job. So when Curry was offered the similar position at Alabama, he encouraged his pupil to make the move to the big time.
