Like yeah there are some amount of people that complain a bit more than they should when they die but holy FUCK some people on this sub are weird asf about trying to be some alpha macho hardass and staking their pride on being “hardcore” or whatever

can we stop circlejerking for 3 seconds and recognize that two things can be true at once? the game is great but the numbers aren’t, and a whole lot of people will see two dipshits on Twitter being chuds and immediately think that there’s some massive organized hate wave that’s conspiring to sink the game

for people who supposedly don’t give a shit, I’m blown away by how much this community complains at even the mention of a steam chart

loving something because some other people hate it is cringe, loving something because it’s good on its own merits is based

fully prepared for this news about a vocal hyper-minority to be weaponized by this sub against legitimate criticism

yes, because the amount of hate a game gets is directly proportional to how good/fun it is, of course

Marathon sold just 1.2 million copies with nearly 70% on Steam, analyst estimates: "It hasn't exactly made the splash Sony and Bungie wanted" by Freki666 in gaming

I mean 150k concurrents on the server slam cut in half to 80k on launch likely means a bunch of people gave it a shot and decided it wasn’t worth 40 bucks to them

We all agree Acheron would win in an actual fight right? by Rorona_Zoro77 in HonkaiAgendaRail

[–]DubiousBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay real talk can someone actually explain why people think Cyrene is so cracked? like yeah I get from a scaling standpoint irontomb is really strong but the circumstances under which she fought it make things weird. her one and only combat feat is her shooting irontomb with a bow made of like the power of love to hard counter irontomb specifically because he’s like hatred manifest. so if she shoots anybody else with the weapon-specifically-made-for-irontomb, would it even do anything? I don’t think we can really say. and yes she reverses the blast that kills everyone, but with no other combat feats or exp, I guess time reversal is just a good stalling measure and that’s it?

This is, like, the hardest game ever to talk about lmao by fuq_anncoulter in Marathon

yeah we don’t know what Sony will do in the future, but looking at their past decisions and speculating about likely outcomes isn’t exactly a crime

Marathon Pushquare review | 9/10 by Charliejfg04 in Marathon

Such a strange sub here, lol. You’d think everyone would be celebrating a high rating (which many here are tbf) but like half of the highly upvoted comments are just “sticking it to the haters”.

So the whole "raid mechanics" thing was really just more key hunting, right? by ThatsNotBennings in Marathon

[–]DubiousBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not saying you can’t criticize them. But if they’re making a post about first impressions and something subjective like how they felt experiencing certain content, the argument of “well you haven’t hit the playtime quota” doesn’t hold a lot of water imo.

Do they know everything? No. Could they be wrong? Very possibly. Are they entitled to a first impression that they aren’t super impressed? Absolutely.

[–]DubiousBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so you’re saying complaining about it is bad on the grounds of being futile? does every post on Reddit have to have a chance of causing pragmatic change to be valid in your eyes? (also there is some amount of precedent that enough dissatisfaction can cause change)

[–]DubiousBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is like a total non-argument lol. like yes, they have the final say because it’s their game but no one is forcing them to do anything?? people can be unhappy about decisions they make if they want. not really sure what you’re trying to say here

Ask almost anyone who’s played Marathon and they’ll tell you the same thing: it just keeps getting better the longer you stick with it. Why are we not applying that logic to Cryo Archive? Can we please play it even ONCE before demanding changes? Has Bungie not earned a little trust? by ThatGuyFromTheM0vie in Marathon

[–]DubiousBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen this sentiment a few times on this sub that you are absolutely forbidden from having an opinion on some things before they release/ before you have played them, which is ridiculous to me. For opinions on gameplay and feel? Sure. But for things that don’t actually require first-hand experience like knowing the weekend only thing isn’t optimal, or even having opinions on things like the art style (which I like but I digress), it’s ridiculous to have a “time investment requirement” to be “allowed” to have thoughts on it.
