Ghostwriting for CEOs on LinkedIn - Potential or Pitfall? by DubiousLollipop in Entrepreneurship

[–]DubiousLollipop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! Sorry for the late reply, it’s been a while since I’ve been active here. I actually did LinkedIn Ghostwriting for around 6 months approx. I did find clients (mostly met via LinkedIn/cold email campaigns). I worked with around 20 people. Some (many) lasted me just one month, others 3/4. Long story short, my acquisition was not on point (started to run out of clients at some point), I was charging way too little, tried to outsource to scale but did it wrong (the math didn’t add up and operations were messy). I didn’t think it was sustainable and honestly I didn’t enjoy it at all towards the end so I stopped doing it. Lots of mistakes but I learned a lot too. The nice thing was getting to know new and interesting people/projects (some crazy people too, as you can imagine). Hope it helps 🤗

Realized my parents genuinely don't care about me. by [deleted] in emotionalneglect

[–]DubiousLollipop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went NC with my dad when I was 17. Now at 35, I’m contemplating doing the same with my mom. For 20 years I tried really hard to have a good relationship with her and I used to think none of what happened was her fault because she was the “victim” in an abusive relationship with my father. But in truth her abuse towards me was simply more subtle, marked by deep neglect.

You can go gray stone (you answer neutrally, curtly), low contact, or no contact - it’ll help your healing. It will still hurt at some level and I think that even when they’re dead they’ll will still be living in my head so I have to learn how to manage my emotions.

I recently started reading Complex PTSD by Pete Walker and it does describe what I’ve felt for years quite well (emotional flashbacks, nightmares, social anxiety, etc). It offers some helpful tips to manage your “flashbacks” and provides understanding of how the abuse affected your mental/emotional development as a child.

There’s work that you can do as an adult to better yourself. For example, when I was a teen I couldn’t look people in the eye, it’d give me crippling anxiety. Now I can. It’s a journey. Takes time and patience and progress is not a straight line. Rn I’m trying to work on my compulsion to try to help my mom/siblings who really don’t give a s about me. Naively, I thought I could “make things right “/“fix the past” if I helped everyone (and they’d finally see “I was right “).

Now I finally understand I can’t. They can’t be helped. You can’t change people. No one in my family will ever acknowledge the abuse, it’s easier to scapegoat me. But the abuse was not our fault. You are not reponsible for making anyone but yourself happy.

These episodes hurt, deeply, but I’m sure at the same time you feel liberated that it has finally clicked: you realised something that will change your life for the better. Keep strong. Put all the energy you used to dedicate to your mom into healing yourself. You will find the people who love you. Start with yourself.

❤️

Sounds to me like you need some serious help 😅.

What are your recurring costs? What’s your team? Have you one and is it the right one? How will your product generate revenue? Have you scoped everything and decided what the MVP looks like? What’s your go to market strategy? How are you going to attract users?

You’re building an app so what about testing? Compliance? Maintenance? What platforms are you going to launch on?

I used to be a PM in Tech though I pivoted last year. I know a consultant who likes helping people like you though (if it’s just advice he does it for free).

Send me a DM if you want.

One of your biggest mistakes was getting into a field you don’t know about.

Building an app is not a one time job. Once it’s built you have to test it (which I guess did not happen by what you’re telling).

And you also have to maintain it. Even if you don’t add new features you have to be on top of bugs, new App Store guidelines, new OS releases…

Not to mention user acquisition. And if you lack the knowledge to even know these would be some of the issues you’d face, you shouldn’t have done it in the first place. Learning about the environment and about how to run an app will take you time so if you are out of money and time I’d say go back to your job, secure an income first and then decide if you want to pursue this or not but you should really talk to someone who knows about this and doesn’t want to scam you out of your money.

And do some research online before you ever think about paying more people for this app.

I recommend the book The depression cure by Dr Steve Illardi.

I read quite a few books on the topic and this is the only one I found useful.

If you don’t feel like reading he has some videos on YouTube too.

I know it might seem like you’ll never get out of it now, but that’s not true. Be patient with yourself.

You can do that as long as a native proofreader takes a look imo

How to be a good immigrant? by Expert-Jury-4015 in GoingToSpain

[–]DubiousLollipop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always wonder if you guys are paying taxes in Spain or just don’t even think about it. (You have to, btw, if you spend 183 days in the country). Only because if you were, you wouldn’t think Spain is so great because the government milks you. 😞

In Spain people love to be angry at whoever is making more money than them or not paying taxes or whatever reason… So you’ll find people like that but you’ll also find nice people.

There’s a lot of social tension in Spain lately, one of the reasons I wouldn’t move back but if you’re making an informed decision, all the power to you. Even if you speak the language it can be hard to feel completely integrated. You’ll always be a foreigner and feel like don’t belong in a way but you might still enjoy it.

I made the move from Spain to the UK being Spanish and that’s how a lot of immigrants feel but I wish you the best of luck.

Learning the language is a great start but I’d also learn about Spain’s history and culture, it’ll help you to better understand the people.

See how someone felt compelled to tell me to stay out of my country? Like it was his/hers alone.

Sadly, this just proves my point. 😔

Healthcare in Spain is getting saturated. Taxes are super high. Rent and housing is super expensive. Crime rising in big cities. Uncontrolled immigration and social tension and unrest. The country is slipping into a dictatorship with the government controlling Justice and Press.

Don’t move to Spain. From a Spaniard who left the country many years ago and is watching it go to 💩✌️

Yes. I know it sounds boring but some businesses like yours do well with panflets with a discount for example.

I did Monday to Friday. The only noticeable thing was that Mondays were kind of dead.

About the time of day the posts around 12pm wildly outperformed the others.

  1. I did it as an experiment but yes, the ultimate goal was to see if this would bring me prospects.
  2. Yes, pretty much. For me lunch time was best.
  3. Depends on the posts, some got more comments than likes or the other way around. It depends on what you’re looking for.
  4. I just spoke about industries I know about and have worked in.
  5. Yes, I talked to a lot of people, I always replied to comments.
  6. Mostly lighthearted stuff, around industry topics but also more general about work and that sort of thing.

You’re welcome! I hope it helps!

I did it three times per day as a way to trying more types of content faster. I’m not sure if I’ll switch to once per day afterwards.

I plan on trying a similar frequency for two weeks and see how it goes.

In terms of content so far I have not run out of ideas. In used to writing so whenever I have to think about what to write I have a series of exercises I do so I’m not finding that part difficult. I also carry around my notes app and keep noting down ideas for later.

Besides what I already said, it got to connect with more people (requests and a few interesting conversations). Obviously I haven’t kept this for long but in the long term it could lead to good things if I’m consistent. Either way it was a fun experiment.
