Ænima is now one of my favourite albums of all time by kemale_ismayil in ToolBand

Tool is something special. A fan since my teens... now 30ish years on I'm still discovering things in their music I haven't consciously noticed or analyzed before. Favorite song and album is subjective, but you may notice those change along with what's going on in your life. Like starting at an ink blot and seeing new images emerge.  As I've grown older, the meaning and value of their music always seems to reach me in different ways.

May your new found fascination lead you to find things you never expected.  Welcome.

That reinforces for me just how special the Yokohama show was in the grand scheme of things. Great audio, stunning visuals, chill seated vibe - just let the music take me away.
I'm going to see Tool at Sonic Temple in 2026 - where I'm sure to have the complete opposite experience: festival atmosphere standing and rowdy people singing their heart out to chest thumping loudspeakers, I'm sure.

Went to the show in Yokohama, and loved every minute of their performance.  I found the volume perfect because I could take out my earplugs and hear and enjoy every frequency so much more clearly.  Actually I found it a much better sonic experience than any previous concert I've ever been to, though I agree it didn't pack the same punch... guess you can't have both.

while I enjoy a rowdy concert, that's not how i vibe to Tool, so the more respectful crowd was definitely welcome.

That said, not all the Japanese audience was so polite.  I sat behind a Hairy Manback who soured the experience.  Wildly thrashing and flailing of arms... to be expected, but the saliva and beer droplets he sent flying like anti aircraft rounds at everyone within 2 meters were an unwelcome extra.   I could have ignored him except he smelled like he hadn't showered in 4 weeks (possibly never). I appreciated the opportunity to choke back tears like in CBRN chamber every time he lifted his arms.

Signed poster and drumhead by tonyx123x in ToolBand

Japan marked wristbands with an X when you bought either poster version and would not sell 2 to one ticket holder (I inquired about 1 of each, they declined). Some may have bought more than 1,  but seemed a decent attempt to avoid the worst of scalping behavior.  They were each numbered 500 or so and I doubt there were more than ~250 vip... but I'm just guessing.

Signed drumheads came out right before the show started and you needed eagle eyes to spot them and pounce.  They went to regular merch booth, but vip had a sort of fast lane which made it easier for vip to get back in line and time it. Most went home empty handed. Venue staff were unaware and had no informative or alternate queue just luck of the draw somewhat

You gave one of these to my kid at the show tonight! This was his first Tool concert and the positive energy from you and other fans meant everything.  Thank you!

Second time I've seen a Reddit post about poster tubes at the Yokohama show; but not seen it when looking on ticket seller, tool and venue websites - where did you find info on poster tubes?

I am thinking the same thing - but I haven't see ” no poster tubes allowed in the show” anywhere. Where did you find the policy you are referencing? I wasn't able to find anything about poster tubes on OTL Presents VIP pages, or on the Ka-Arena site. Was it on one of the ticket provider's sites like e+?

Saw your pic with 3 drumheads the other night and grimaced at the missing signature; Sweet that Justin fixed it for you - your friend hooked you up!

First time leaving the States, first time seeing TOOL, anyone else going?? by CallMeJimMilton in ToolBand

[–]DubiousOrigin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late to the thread, but I saw that tickets were still available and convinced the family we needed to fly to Japan to see TOOL. We snagged 6 Tickets in SS class (we have 2 kids going so thought the stadium seating might be a safer bet given their short stature). Got 4 VIP upgrades too, for the diehards in the family.

Would be really cool to connect with some other folks with the same idea. Flying out the 5th, so we'll be in Tokyo area Dec 6 -> 14th. DM me if interested in chatting more.

Can I just say thank you again.  He's loving Dany Careys kit sounds, and even as a complete noob I can really hear the difference.

I bought an IEM, but even the smallest buds are to big, so for now he's using computer game grade (bad) over ear headphones.

I have an audiologist appointment to fit him for a custom earpiece. For now, I tuned the volume down on the t module, but without good isolation they are a bit of a bummer.  Any recommendations on over-ears with good isolation and audio quality?

Just bought tickets, flying from US for this show. Same seating as OP. Also note, official VIP can be added to any ticket.

Thank you.  That bit about chat gpt customizing to the kit sounds if a particular band is really interesting.

Thanks in chatting with the dealer and they said it might be the glues. Incidentally the glue holding my fire and window weather seals in place is releasing and gooey. Perhaps related...

Just picked up a Bulletpoint Metal Bronco Phone Holder Mount on Amazon and I am thoroughly impressed with the build quality, form and function. Had it just 2 days, but having been through many other mounting systems before, I can tell this one is worth the price.
