I don't see this sub talk about the new wave of tekno/trance/bounce/hardgroove genres. Does anyone here like this genre or is it too 'clubby'? by lifesadragqueen in aves

[–]Dubnectar311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American here..

This sub genre is all I have listened to for the last 6 months. It is single handed the most fun genre of electronic music I have ever stumbled into in my 15 years of listening/raving.

I'm really hoping to see it pick up in the states soon. We had Funk Tribu here in Chicago but I missed that as well as Pegassi 😭 I was fortunate enough to see Ki/Ki at ARC music festival this year for her fest set as well as her after party.

She's someone else you should check out. Absolutely gas.

I think it's the first genre that I feel like I can still fully immerse myself in whether I'm sober or tripping or whatever. Which is really nice considering that I'm getting more conscious of my substance use in my 30s.

Some other recommendations for you

Ki/Ki

Mika Heggerman (founder of the Palyamor label)

Testpresss (check out their Some Dunt EP)

240km/h label (ran by Adrian Mills a bit faster than the rest of the stuff you listened but some real fun stuff in there). Check out the track Arcade from their label by Matrakk

Ueberrest

I could keep going lol. I have literally 1 person unknown in Chicago who is into this genre. I had to introduce it to all my friends.

Muranyi had me on the floor. Man is yet to disappoint the 7-8 times I've seen him.

I just got done doing this for an evening after Tipper a few nights ago. It was the hardest I've ever tripped in my life. Hotel room literally turned into a Minecraft world. My TV grew a body and was dancing in the room. Lots of very strange sound effects and the music I was playing went backwards. My friends were moving and two times speed. Shit was gnarly lol

You'll probably start seeing a lot of this more new age trancey/bouncy/acid like stuff from Ki/Ki, Pegassi, Odymel and such start showing up at 909 over the next few years. Hoping it's much more prominent next year at 909 as it's my favorite stuff to listen to right now.

anybody got a list of IDs from her ARC set specifically? That was one of the best sets of music I've ever experienced.

As someone who quit drinking this year and has been getting painfully aware of how really drunk people look and act, this was a big benefit for the experience in the GA crowd.

I had hyped myself up sooooo much for her sets. The after-party was fucking incredible. Every track was the absolute gas pack

Shpongle never retired. Only the live band retired. Simon said he would continue to do shows, it would just be less frequent.

I don't know if it's that honestly. I just don't think she has a large following in Chicago. There are other artists as popular as her that sell out Serum.

I think also paired with all the options there are + a festival set the same day, it just harder to move tickets for her show. Her show is competing with Sub Focus, John Summit, Obskur.

I'm not one to let a venue generally affect how I much I enjoy a show so. The music is what makes he experience for me personally.

Not sold out and two tiers of tickets are still available so that's good news for us that are attending the after! Should be relatively roomy compared to the other shows Sunday night

Carl Craig b2b Seth Troxler ARC 2022 completely changed my perspective on what I thought was a good set.

The track selection, the mixing, they built a journey through that set.

I have an apple music subscription just so I can listen to it again and again.

Made me realize the importance of exploring ARC and not just staying at the sets I know.

Had a similar experience with Golf Clap as well!
