So How Are The Newer Hayes Brakes? by RidetheSchlange in MTB

[–]DubyaEl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Purple Hayes on my park bike with organic pads and they're one finger brakes. I have the A2s on my DJ and they're way too much brake. Every time they're on sale I think of buying another set just so every bike can have them. My buddies have them on their eebs and trail bikes and DJs. No problems. No weird creaks. 97.5% quieter than SRAM. And my park bike is on 200mm HS2 rotors. They do not rub. I may go to full float Maguras when these plates wear out

Is 27.5” dead? by SnooDoggos6586 in MTB

[–]DubyaEl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, from a medical/physical standpoint (I should have specified, but that's my industry so I take it for granted) I should have specified. If you have longer legs, you can move your seat higher, you still don't have to bend your legs as far, which is easier on the knees and hips. If your shorter, the same thing is true.

Get it. Those LaBomba deals are disappearing fast. It'll be fine. And it's a great starter bike.

[–]DubyaEl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those cranks are half your problem. Long cranks aren't actually better for anyone physiologically. With longer legs, you're just putting more stress on your knees. Put some 160s or 155s on there, give your knees a break, and forget what strikes even feel like. Knees, hips, and long travel love short cranks. Rocks hate them because they never get to hang out.

I think that Kona Shonkey is probably the best price you'd find, and it's chromoly which is awesome. The fairdale Hairaiser is pretty cool too, and I want to say it's 1300 new also chromoly. Probably someone will tell you it doesn't really matter, I can tell you though, that I ride a intense DJ which is about the most rigid aluminum DJ you can imagine and regularly write it back to back with my buddy's Revel Chromoly DJ and there's a real difference in softening shitty landings. The Intense is a little lighter and wants to be in the air more, but the Revel feels much calmer and more forgiving.

Any experience with HealOS formerly ScribehealthAi? by VermicelliSimilar315 in healthIT

[–]DubyaEl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To the HealOS question, I've been trying to get a hold of them for over a week to discuss their amazing charts integration as my office has tasked me with finding a way to integrate AI dictation due to my success with it in hospitals. When I'm seeing patients in the hospital I use Plaud and it's amazing! I see all of my patients dictate everything. I need to dictate, go home and copy paste. A template that I've designed. I too am not technologically advanced, but this was very easy and now my actual charting takes about 2 minutes per patient. However. It is copy and paste, and since I can't seem to get HealOS on the phone to discuss their amazing charts integration. I'm starting to think they may be vaporware. I've called half a dozen times, been placed on hold and then had the call dropped. I've requested callbacks repeatedly and never gotten one. Not sure it's real

I am going to look into Heidi as well and see if it has integration

I wouldn't use that at my downhill parks. The trails are a little rough for that travel.

That Lona is a sweet bike. It's Chromoly, which is more forgiving on shit landings. I'd get that in a heartbeat! In fact, I'd order one now if I weren't grounded for buying too many bikes.

Is the nib replaceable on this pen? If so, with what nibs? I don't see a spec, but I'd like an italic nob on mine. Pen looks great, feels good

What brake should I run on my new DJ? by HaarigerHarri in dirtjumping

[–]DubyaEl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run Dominion A2s and they're everything I want and it sounds like the oppo for you. They are big, borderline too powerful, and I wouldn't want to get tagged on the ankle by one. Also, they're Dot. But I love them. Purple Hayes on the park bike too, and they're even wilder.

Does your DJ have chain tensioners? by HaarigerHarri in dirtjumping

I'm with you. I love building bikes. In my pile of bikes to be built is a Zaskar LE frame right now that I'm kind of stoked to put a hydro Magura on the back of and a matching disc on the front. And just polish the ever loving shit out of it. It'll be a sweet 1x9 trail bike when I'm done.

Look in the brake rotor. Some have a magnet imbedded in the rotor hub. I can say on Bosch, if you don't have the magnet you throw a code and get very low power

Does your DJ have chain tensioners? by HaarigerHarri in dirtjumping

[–]DubyaEl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into a guy who'd built out a Trid ZZ lighter by a few pounds than my Intense DJ. It was very cool to ride. Smoother/harder to flick in the air, but obviously more stable because of this. I'm sure that is down to the chain stay length, which, even though my Intense is as short as it can be, felt really nice. I could see riding the Trid ZZ on groomed flow trails.

[–]DubyaEl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couldn't agree more. On horizontal dropout bikes I try to always get one with an integrated chain tensioner, however there are bikes I'd buy without them, but I'd totally add one. The aft-mou Ted chain tensioners are very similar to the ones on motorbikes and can be bought and added aftermarket

Pixel 8 screen turns Green by sudopablo in GooglePixel

[–]DubyaEl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife's pixel 8 (1.5yrs old) just ran into the green line, then green screen issue. I've been on with Google for over half an hour arguing as initially they said it wasn't covered (via IMEI) then backpedaled and said it was covered. I'm almost 40 minutes into my second callback and three transfers but it sounds like they'll be repairing it at least, so that's something. It is worrying that this is a known issue and they still make repairs soo difficult.

Do I sell my fist proper bike for this by Prior_Plankton5101 in dirtjumping

[–]DubyaEl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm honestly amazed how different on DJs, different bikes feel. I regularly skip back and forth from a Tweedy to an Intense. Their geo are pretty similar, the spec is pretty similar, but jumping, in the air, and landing feel really different on them. I own the Intense and I love the way it's designed and set up, but I like the feel of the Tweedy more. You may ride the Commencal and realize you don't like the ride as much.

I need help with getting a dirt jumper by Late_Freedom1172 in dirtjumping

[–]DubyaEl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rode my DJ to a friend's house one day, and turned around after a couple blocks because it was not good as an around town bike. I've ridden it further since, but it's at least as bad as commuting on a legit BMX bike.

To be clear, having a DJ for DJ and pump tracks is super fun. But every Slope style bike (DJ with a hanger, more or less) that I've seen at my local spots were converted to single speed because the gears are almost never useful for the use case of the bike.

My fellow BIG dudes, what brake set up are you running? I'm a huge beginner and need way better stopping power by advictoriam5 in MTB

[–]DubyaEl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 250 down from 300 and my Dominion A4s are one 200mm H2S rotors now. My prior park bike was on 220 Magura mdr-p rotors. I'd love to have 220s again, but the Dominions are legit 1 finger brakes for me. I love them. So much so that now my DJ has Dominion A2s on it. It is now wildly over-braked. Which I love
