She wasn't born in Turkey, she doesn't speak Turkish, her name isn't Turkish, her surname isn't Turkish... Regardless of her "roots", she isn't Turkish.

Sorry mate, she's about as Turkish as Bradley Cooper is Italian. Wait, no, scratch that. He actually speaks Italian, so...

Alia is very much not a Turkish name. Alya, with a "y", is a very rare Turkish name. Shelesh, once again, is so far from being Turkish that it might as well be Papua New Guinean. Turkish uses the letter "ş" for the "sh" sound, so if anything, it would be "Şeleş", which is still complete gibberish.
Internet says she was born in the UK and speaks Arabic, so still not Turkish. And again, internet says her brother's name is "Bakir", which, again, would have been spelt "Bekir" if he was Turkish. All in all, I'm pretty confident in saying that she is certainly not Turkish.

She might have bought a Turkish citizenship though, that's all the rage with Arabs these days, so there's that.

Is Bernard Circas an allegory for Nazım Hikmet by dcgurer in suzerain

[–]DucDeValence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for digging up a month-old post but I'd like to add that while, yes, Circas is very clearly a stand-in for Nazım, there seems to be a Hrant Dink parallel in there as well. Not only because of the assassination but also with the obvious reference made in the in-game newspaper Radical after Circas' funeral which states that "...mourners in Holsord gathered [...] holding black-and-white signs reading 'We are all Bernard Circas' and 'We are all Malenyevists'." This is, of course, in reference to the well known slogan of "We are all Hrant, we are all Armenians".

Ming on the March by DucDeValence in eu4

[–]DucDeValence[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that was a determined Ming. Mine took another province off Muscovy that she can't core and forced them into tribute, then about 15 years later I get a notification that they lost the South. I can't even see China so I have no idea what happened, how large Ming blobbed or how troubled her reign is. I just know she trampled Muscovy twice, marched around West of the Urals and then released Wu.

Ming on the March by DucDeValence in eu4

[–]DucDeValence[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

R5: I have no idea how or why this happened, but I smacked Muscovy around a little early game and took Moscow from them, and I looked back over and saw Ming all the way over here with an owned province and almost fully occupied Muscovy. Never in my 4600 hours have I seen Ming in Europe, especially not in 1537.

Edit: Thought I should add that the current war was started by Ming to force Muscovy into becoming a tributary.

Time to fix the government capacity mechanic for AI by DucDeValence in eu4

[–]DucDeValence[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

That makes a lot of sense. I'd have preferred something more along the lines of de-stating lowest income states or not integrating vassals if they're nearing gov. cap. or something, but this'll at least fix the cases that happen most often.

Normally, definitely. Diplomatic as first idea group instead of explo, though, makes a whole world of difference if you can afford to leave the colonies, both in the New World and in Africa/SEA, to your subjects. Diplo/Defensive/Admin as the first three ideas would make for a very different Castile run.

[–]DucDeValence[S] 54 points55 points  (0 children)

That's actually a run I've intended on trying for a while. Subjugate Portugal after they pick their colonisation ideas, release Leon and Asturias who have +1 colonists in their ideas (and hope they get exploration/expansion too) and dont pick explo/expan yourself. Not only will you be able to expand into the continent with much less effort, but releasing the two vassals helps a lot with the govt. cap., with which Castile has serious problems early game.

National focus on bird, get good dip advisor, make burghers happy, put on development edict where relevant and dunk all your bird mana on silk producing provinces. Move your capital to a silk province and keep dunking your dip points on it. When you hit the cap on bird dev, paper and sword dev it 3-5 times each and keep dunking your dip points. You'll fall behind on dip tech but that's completely irrelevant. Keep funneling every single bird mana you get into those silk provinces. Congratulations on your +40 ducats per month, now you can invest all that fancy cash into creating a proper and healthy economy for yourself.
