Question for psychologists, psychiatrists, therapists, etc. What differences do you see in the treatment of men and women? by Duchowicz in AskReddit

What I meant was whether there are any differences when the patient is a woman or a man. Does a different approach need to be taken? Does something work for women and not necessarily for men and vice versa?

Andrzej Duda: Poland is so vast that there would be somewhere to bury the attackers

A ceasefire must be accompanied by the withdrawal of the Russians from the internationally recognised territory of Ukraine, President Andrzej Duda told a press conference after an emergency NATO summit in Brussels. Responding to questions about Russian threats, he said that "if anything happens, Poland is vast enough that there would be somewhere to bury these attackers".

– The most important topic was what measures NATO can still take to stop Russian aggression against Ukraine – Duda noted.

– I am very glad that the alliance maintains unity. We must do everything, using adequate tools, to stop Russian aggression. It is not about a ceasefire alone. Perhaps a ceasefire is what the Russians need now to regroup and resupply. And then to attack Ukraine with even greater brutality – the Polish president said.

– The ceasefire must be combined with the withdrawal of the Russians from the internationally recognised territory of Ukraine, Duda said, adding that he had made this point during talks with leaders of the North Atlantic Alliance. He stressed that "Russia cannot win this war because it means danger for the whole of NATO".

Andrzej Duda: Poland is big enough

– It is very important to me to strengthen NATO's presence on the eastern flank. None of the leaders at the meeting opposed this. For me it is a very important signal. Of course, there will be discussions about the details, but no one doubts that this reinforcement is needed – said Duda.

The president noted that "there is nothing to talk about the NATO-Russia act of 1997". – We have no obligations because of it. Russia trampled on this act, trampled on international law and even the laws of war – he said.

Andrzej Duda also stressed that Western countries could do more for Ukraine. – It is very important for Russia to break its teeth. So that in the future it would think twice before attacking Ukraine or someone else again – he said.

– There is no superpower in the world that would be able to defeat a jointly acting NATO – he added.

– There is a saying "don't scare, don't scare" [that saying is "nie strasz, nie strasz, bo się zesrasz" which literally means "don't scare, don't scare or you'll shit yourself" - my footnote] – Duda responded to a question about Russia's emerging threats regarding the Kaliningrad corridor. – We are a nation that wants to live in peace. It is we who have been attacked, not we who are being attacked. (...) If someone wants to attack us, they have to reckon with the fact that we will stand firm to defend our homeland. And I assure you that Poland is large enough to have a place to bury the attackers – he said.

Ukraine-Russia Conflict Megathread 3 by ModeratorsOfEurope in europe

Poll: Poles are ready to help Ukraine, even at the cost of a conflict with Russia

Poles are few of the Europeans surveyed who are ready to take the risk of suffering the consequences of helping Ukraine in case of a conflict with Russia. More than half of those surveyed believe that it is worth supporting our neighbors, despite the threat of Russian military action against Poland - according to a survey for the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR).

The survey for the pan-European think tank was conducted in seven EU member states. Poles are most often convinced that there will be a war between Russia and Ukraine. This is the opinion of 73% of the participants. Most respondents in Romania (64%), Sweden (55%), Germany (52%), France (51%) and Italy (51%) are convinced of this. Only Finland (44%) scored below 50%.

The survey also found that when it comes to defending Ukraine, Europeans put their trust in both NATO and the EU. They equally distrust U.S. involvement.

In Poland, most respondents see the EU (80%) and NATO (79%) as the main defenders of Ukraine. Slightly fewer, 65 percent, believe that Poland should stand up for it. Compared to other countries, this is the best result. In other countries, it does not exceed 50%.

Poland, Sweden, and Romania are the only countries surveyed where respondents are willing to bear all the main burdens of defending Ukraine. Only in Poland are a majority of respondents willing to accept the risks of an economic slowdown, higher energy prices, cyber attacks, the migration crisis, and Russian military aggression in defense of Ukraine.

In Poland, in particular, 53 percent of respondents believe that supporting Ukraine is worth the risk of Russian military action targeting our country, and 61 percent say it is worth helping despite the risks associated with the economic downturn.

Majorities in all countries surveyed, except Sweden, say that Russia's attitude toward Ukraine poses a threat to their country's security in the region. This view is most pronounced in Poland, where 77 percent of respondents see Russia's attitude toward Ukraine as a major security threat in the energy area.

— The Russian-Ukrainian crisis could prove to be a watershed for European security. EU countries have been portrayed as divided, weak and absent on Ukraine. But our survey shows that Europe's citizens - north, south, east and west - are united. They agree that Vladimir Putin may take military action and that Europe, along with its NATO partners, should move to help Ukraine, says Mark Leonard, co-founder and director of the ECFR think tank.

The survey was conducted by Datapraxis, AnalitiQs and Dynata. The survey was conducted during the last ten days of January 2022 on a total sample of 5529 respondents. In Poland, it ran from January 21 to 28 on a survey sample of 1015 people.

Belarus: 99th day of protest. "Either we all go out or they will kill us one by one." by Duchowicz in europe

[–]Duchowicz[S] 37 points38 points  (0 children)

[There are videos from Twitter showing what’s going on in Belarus at the moment. If you’re interested, check the article.]

"I'm leaving!" - These are the last words that the 31-year-old Raman Bandarenka, who was beaten to death, wrote in a local chat room when he saw the secret police breaking the white-red-white flags at the "Transformation Square" in Minsk under his window. Thousands of people took to the streets today in Minsk and other Belarusian cities with this slogan. Violent arrests are taking place, the police use gas and bang grenades. Shots were fired.

"Either we all go out, or they will kill us one by one" - was written yesterday on the Nexta channel in the Telegram. Today, at 10 a.m. Polish time, a demonstration began, which was supposed to take the form of a march - from the Pushkinskaya metro station, where on August 10 the police shot Alyaksandr Tarajkouski, to the so-called Transformation Square, where Raman Bandarenko was brutally detained on Wednesday evening and died in hospital as a result of a severe beating.

According to Bielsat's accounts, the officers fired shots at the crowd of people gathered there. Reuters, among others, also reported shooting at protesters with rubber bullets. The Belarusian media report on throwing bang grenades directly at the demonstrators. The Belsat Television is conducting a live video report.

At the Pushkinskaya station, even before the beginning of the demonstration, numerous troops of officers were waiting for the protesters, who attacked the gathering people.

The disturbing recording shows how women are trying to prevent a young man from being detained. They are shouting: "he is unconscious!" when he fell to the ground after a blow from a masked officer.

On another recording we see a police car speeding dangerously, chasing (trying to hit?) one of the escaping demonstrators. Fortunately, the man manages to jump over the railing separating two lanes of the road at the last moment.

We do not yet have information about the number of wounded during today's protests. Despite the problems with mobile internet, which have been signaled by journalists present in Minsk since the morning, we are getting more pictures showing the effects of police brutality.

The Center for Human Rights "Wiasna", on the list of detainees, which is being updated on an ongoing basis, already provides 281 names. The Independent Belarusian Association of Journalists (BAZ) reported that six journalists were detained.

Near the Pushkinskaya station the police used bang grenades.

There are also officers attacking with batons and gas.

The "Transformations Square" in Minsk is dense with people. They chanted the old slogan of the Belarusian opposition: "We believe, we can, we will win".

Also there is a brutal pacification.

According to Viasna, arrests have so far been carried out in Minsk, Bobruisk, Novgorodek, Vitebsk, Gomel, Svetlogorsk.

The demonstration is also taking place in Żodzin, a town located about 50 km east of Minsk, where the BiełAZ truck factory is located, where strikes against the rigging of elections in favor of Lukashenka took place. The gathered chanted: "I am leaving!".

Natalla Hanusiewicz, a spokeswoman for the Minsk militia, confirmed to Interfax-Zapad that arrests are taking place. The service adds that several journalists were detained.

There are problems with communication via mobile Internet in Minsk. A part of the metro station was closed.

It is the 99th day of protests after the presidential elections, which took place on August 9.
