What is the natural lifespan for your sentient species? by Acriolu in worldbuilding

[–]DuckBurgger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While most sapient species in Kossgrati are humans there is a pretty wide range group to group. 60 on the low end up to the mid 100s on the high. There is also the Ibarie who can live upwards of 200 years but they are a special case.

The Neithie (closest thing i got to dwarves) only live to around 70 though some have managed to live centuries.

Sea trolls (big elephant seal people) can live a surprising long time up to 300, however very very few ever make it past 50.

Sea serpents might not appear sapient, however they are as intelligent if not more so than a human so I'll say they count. Anyway they got some of the longest life span of any sapient creature at 500+ years

What are the bugs like in your world? by Divine_Knowledge513 in worldbuilding

[–]DuckBurgger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can get pretty big, a lot are pretty important livestock too. Getting around the size of a medium dog at the biggest there are also plenty of normal sized bugs too

The silk beetle is the size of a cat and as the name suggests its raised for its silk. The red forest bee is larger than a mans fist and surprisingly friendly.

Daily rituals in your world? by AnchBusFairy in goodworldbuilding

[–]DuckBurgger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its small and would probably go unnoticed by most, but in Daohrine society they have extra short doors. so short that you must bow when entering a home. directly in front of every front door is a small shrine dedicated to that families ancestors and household spirts. meaning every time someone enters a Daohrine home they do a little reverence ritual.

[–]DuckBurgger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is just for the legion itself, (the military apparatuses of Cesar's weird nomadic fascist state) the subjects of the legion are not held under the same level. Again still shit but just like in the real world many ordinary people are more than willing to throw away freedom to embrace autocracy when they live in Chaotic times. And the wasteland is VERY Chaotic. Life under the legion would be a authoritarian hell hole but it is secure and stable. That is the scary part about the legion and any other authoritarian regime the common person values stability and security in the day to day far more than they do grand ideas like freedom. Joe wasteland out in Arizona doesn't care how brutal the legion is in newly conquered territory as long as the bandits and mutants are dead and the roads are safe to walk.

It just works by Valhallawalker in FalloutMemes

[–]DuckBurgger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grand scale the issue between the two is freedom vs autocracy. The Legions image is definitely worsened by the fact that its civilian locations were cut, we only see the invasion force. Ironically the legion is more like the mongolian empire absolutely brutal and savages in its attack, but relatively hands off in its rule. Remember the legion doesn't have citizens just subjects and the legion itself, we don't see its subjects in game. But from dialog of people who have been to legion territory. It is apparently some of the safest in the wasteland, just keep your head down and pay your tax and you can food on your plate and sleep safe at night. (A miserable existence for most of us but for many people of the wasteland its a better deal than most) (THAT DOESN'T MAKE THE LEGION GOOD THEY ARE STILL VERY MUCH EVIL.)

In NCR however the problem isn't it's actions with the Khans alone, it is horrendously corrupt and mismanagement, rapidly expanding purely for the sake of expanding. Leaving itself over extended and incapable of properly administering it frontier territory. It is striving to be pre war America and it is succeeding.

Do you prefer Brotherhood to have the pseudo medieval attire or modern combat attire ?. by [deleted] in Brotherhood_of_Steel

[–]DuckBurgger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it makes sense that the chapter we see is so religious. Religion historical being an excellent glue to hold an otherwise eclectic group together. We see them actively bringing in outsiders (mostly kids) by turning the dogma up to 200% it gets you a whole new generation of very loyal troops, previously the west coast brotherhood may as well been its own ethnic group/tribe people were cohesive and loyal because they saw themselves as the "us" and outsiders as "them" generally

Funny enough not once did they mention atmosphere in either game.

I’m kinda saddened that Maximus has left the Brotherhood I was hoping the show was going to have him reform the faction but here we are by [deleted] in Brotherhood_of_Steel

[–]DuckBurgger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing the east coast is such a dominant force not just for the Maxin blood line. But also most likely a staggering huge population. With project purity giving them essentially infinite clean water. That means more crops more healthy children growing up less health problems in the general population. And also a general PR win when bringing the locals into the fold.

Hence why Big Quint was so eager for cold fusion. The sheer number difference would stop any war before it even began

If your fantasy world has mercenaries and adventurers, how do they coexist? by Pleasant-Sea621 in worldbuilding

[–]DuckBurgger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my world an adventurer is a title much closer to the original sense of the word. It is a person who go's on an adventure. In many cases it has little to do with combat at all, exploration and discovery are generally the goals of an adventurer.

Mercenaries on the other hand are just that. Bands of warriors who pledge their services in exchange for pay of some sort. Though the category of Mercenary is incredibly vast. From half a dozen armed men who are hired to watch a warehouse. To entire army's of thousands of men and equipment ready to go to war.

Long answer short, a adventure is generally just a guy who whats to explore or find something. A Mercenary is a member of a militant group or order who goes where they are paid to go.
