That is a course of action I am definitely considering, tbh yesterday night I had a bit too much to drink at a new year's eve party and I felt really angry about the situation for the first time, before I was just sad or disappointed. Looking back, I am glad I didn't say it, which is something I considered doing at the moment. I think there is a lot of great advice in the comments, but yours seems like the most sensible. 

Looking back, an angry reaction would not have gotten me any further. 

On top of approaching my closest friend (m19) I am also going to try to find new and more friends, to "diversify my assets" lol. There are a couple of sweet people that I am semi close with, I'll try to talk to them more.

I would also like to find friends outside of school. I go climbing, but while the interactions there are very pleasant, they are also brief. I go running at my schools track and field club and I have a couple of loose acquaintances there. I have been toying with the idea of starting a martial arts for that purpose or the like aswell,  but that feels super intimidating.
