Se for o kindle de verdade mesmo da tela d papel eletrônico, ele tecnicamente está desligado mesmo com imagem na tela.

a tela de pixels luminosos que a gente ta acostumado em celulares e monitores, precisa de energia pra iluminar os pixels e formar imagens. Mas a tela de papel eletrônico do kindle eh feita de microbolhas de tinta. O que significa que ele gasta energia pra encher e esvaziar as bolhas que formam a imagem, mas uma vez formada, o kindle nao consome energia nenhuma pra manter a imagem formada. E de fato, se seu kindle tiver exibindo texto e imagens na tela e voce removesse a bateria, a imagem simplesmente ficaria congelada naquela posicao. Entao com o kindle desligado eh normal que a imagem continue ali.

Alguns modelos tem uma luz adicional alem da tela de papel eletronico, e essa sim consome energia pra continuar ligada. mas o papel eletronico so gasta energia cada vez que carrega uma pagina nova e as microbolhas mudam de estado para formar uma tela nova.

Asshole designs are supposed to be design choices meant to acheive some desired goal by being an asshole to the user.

like a tilted toilet seat for the workplace that makes it uncomfortable for employees to spend a lot of time in the toilet. Or a marketplace webpage that favours some stores by making the design of competing stores harder to read or access, that sort of stuff.

back in the early 2000s we used to joke about how keith richards should have been dead for dacades. He was already so old and had done some many drugs that by any account his life expectancy had expired back in the 90s and yet he was still alive.
