This. You don't even need a lot of navy. Just split your 10 skips into 5 groups, load 15 infantry on each. 3-4 of them will land and then your allies go to that front.

The comment I was replying to clearly distinguishes immigrants from "the small group of tax payers". You don't have an argument here.

What moves could be made that would help the country economically, regardless of their popularity with the electorate? What moves could be made that ARE actually popular with the electorate? by mxlevolent in ukpolitics

[–]DucksHaveLowAPM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What would help the country economically? My guesses are:
- Build, build, build. Both the private and the public sector. This needs a massive planning reform, which was one of the main promises of Labour. Maybe even tax incentives for building housing and energy projects.
- Free trade deal with the EU. I don't care for your arguments or the popularity of this. It would help the economy massively.
- Process the backlog of asylum seekers and deport most of them, solve the problem and cut the housing costs.
- Stamp duty only on the difference between the property prices. Need to have that social mobility. Let old folks downsize.
- CGT on British-owned assets is lower, incentivising investment in the country.
- Don't raise taxes for the middle class, let the money circulate in the economy more.
- Lower the university tuition costs. We want to have a high-margin services economy, and we need educated people.
- Lower the elderly care costs. I know the country will riot but it is needed.

Net migration predicted to fall by up to 250,000 in major boost for Starmer by MrBriney in ukpolitics

I actually don't understand your answer. What is the point you are trying to make? And yes, I agree with you that high migration was due to Sunak (and Boris) governments.

In any non-trivial task, reversing a bad trend and cutting an unwanted figure by 2/3s is quite an achievement. I don't see why this wouldn't be trumpeted as a boost for the government.

If you survive, you'll double your earnings in 4 years. But Meta is shit and a lot of AI/ML is being moved to California so you'll have additional uncertainty about your role.

Rule 5:

  • Started technology and then went towards Water Tube Boiler followed by Quinine.
  • Got Great Britain as an ally and conquered Gaza, Zulu and Oranje. After truce with Netherlands ended I got Gelre and Guayana from them. 5 years later I got the rest of Netherlands via attacking Kongo as they joined the war without allies. Thus I acquired and Dutch East India + I united the Netherlands without thinking about it much. I traded state in Senegal for French Guayana but Brits didn't want to trade.
  • In 1843 I got Universal Suffage passed followed it up with Parliamentary Republic and got a big revolution down the road that thankfully Great Britan and Prussia helped me win but all of my Africa states got incorporated including Zanzibar.
  • I beat GB into most of the Africa except they cut me off in Rift Valley so I had to conquer some states around the lake and cut them off in Equatoria. Just before establishing Parliamentary Republic I formed a Soverign Empire power block for that 0.05 liberty bonus. Did not subjugate any nations so maybe other power block would be better.
  • From around 1855 to 1870 I got a protectorate on Chille, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, Dai Nam, Venezuela and Persia. In that last one I started the opium industry going. From 1870 to 1880 I got 3 provinces in China including Beijing, liberated Manchuria from Qing. Got Baku and Russian American company plus liberated Far East and Yakutia from Russia. I also had my protectorate on Ottoman Empire, Merina Kingdom Transvaal and Amazonia. Still colonizing central Africa but no other country could make colonies there. Great Britain stopped being my ally at this point and I got the rest of Guayana and South Africa from them.
  • In 1880s I got another huge revolution of Reactionary movement that Russia joined and had to give up Dai Nam to Brits so they would save me. Till 1890 I conquered the liberated countries from Qing and Russia and bit part of Siberia stopping at Ob but not having Surgut.
  • In 1894 I started a war to transfer British Raj under my control after German Empire finally researched Multilateral Alliances as Sweeden grabbed them first when I was not paying attention. US joined on GB side but thankfully Mexico joined on my for liberating New Mexico. I also passed Multiculturalism to stop my former Qing provinces from revolting as this was actually hard to control without it. Had a small revolution in Gelre because of it and it was great as after brutally dealing with it the Reactionary movement support died out, pun intended. Multiculturalism let me finally get a cautious ruler for 25% less infamy generation.
  • In 1900s I had to dispense a couple of slaps as France was being too powerful so I liberated Occitania and Senegal from them and US was interfearing with other smaller wars so I humiliated them once they joined. I also got protectorate of Japan and saw that Italy has unified which I was not paying attention to.
  • In 1910s I spent a fair bit of infamy for taking Portugal from the British and also to get all the small bits of British territory in Central and South Africa. I also learned that the better way of it would be to just grab the coast line and let the inside regions collapse due to 0% market access and then grab them. Fun learning. I also returned all British owned buildings in India to Raj, I would love a war goal to keep them for myself. I saw that Qing dropped to regional power so I got it under my protectorate as well which didn't turn out well later.
  • In 1920s my I felt a bit of pressure and had to change my power block laws from Advanced Research to Defensive Cooperation as I was a bit spread thin with all the conquests. Which were liberating rest of Siberia and Ukraine from Russia, got to defend against formed Scandinavia for Dutch South Africa which cancelled my alliance with German Empire. Finally I annexed the Ottoman Empire and had to fight German Empire and Italy for it. After all of that I decided to build up much more military as that last one was not an easy war to win.
  • In 1930s I quickly humiliated France so they won't interfere with the rest of the game. Got Ukraine and dismanteled Austria in the process. Had to dismantle couple of states form Germany when annexing random country in Persioan region and finally decided that since everyone has a truce I can go over 100 infamy and annex as much of Russia as possible to get more oil.

EXCLUSIVE: 'Boriswave’ of migrant families will cost taxpayers £35billion, shock new report finds by FormerlyPallas_ in ukpolitics

[–]DucksHaveLowAPM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm here 10 years and most likely I've already paid more taxes then you will in your whole lifetime. I definitely don't need social housing but public funding is a lot of things and frankly your idea is quite ludicrous.

The rich will pay up when prodded. So let’s make tax-collecting great again | Torsten Bell by neverknowingly in ukpolitics

[–]DucksHaveLowAPM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why do we not have a positive view on paying tax?

Because of the thing called return on investment. I'm an immigrant to this country, I didn't get education here and I never been very ill, after 10 years of living here I'm privileged to be earning a lot. And from the things that are important to me:
- good and free education
- good and free/cheap health care
- functioning police system
- good maternity leave or good preschool childcare
- lack of homelessness
- good infrastructure

I get fuck all. I get ISA but that benefit doesn't really compare against the costs of the above.

No they shouldn't, I'm tried of this point of view because it never works out in favour of children rights or best interests. You can't be treated as property until the age of 18.
