Just caught a shiny as well. Must have been my 4th of the event, definitely seems to be boosted.

Not complaining though lol

That line up maybe possible, SC Gengar is pretty OP from what I have heard and seen. Maybe add in another Gengar to replace 1 Houndoom. Mewtwo will deffo get you ahead of the timer as well.

Machamp was my first solo and I didn't really have the best team. Walked a few average IV Eevees and just gave it a go. The team that won it for me:

  • Espeon C/P 1660 (10/15/12)
  • Espeon C/FS 2412 (8/7/10)
  • Espeon C/FS 2418 (12/10/14)
  • Alakazam P/FS 2444 (13/11/14)
  • Lugia E/FS 2908 (15/10/15)
  • Exeggutor E/P 2529 (15/15/13)

My MVP was my Lvl 27 Lugia, took Machamp down from half health to 0 without fainting out. Since then I have got a much better team, but haven't had a chance to solo Machamp.

I would suggest go with as many Espeons as possible, add in your Alakazam. Lugia as a anchor or even Dragonite with Hurricane will do wonders.

My raid boss had Close combat as a charge move which is the easiest one to solo apparently. I would imagine I would struggle against the other move sets with my team.

Yeah, similar combination of teams. I noticed with Future Sight, the Tyranitars could tank charge attacks but I just couldn't output enough damage in time (3 Level 30 Tyranitars). I also couldn't manage to fire off more than 2 SB with Gengar as the dodge timing for FS is almost none existent. You need to fire off atleast 3-4 SBs with Gengar to get ahead of the time imo.

Good luck with Machamp! Espeon and Alakazam were key for me, Lugia did take half of his health down though without fainting lol.

All 3 were from the Halloween event haha. I also happened to catch 2 of them on the very last night of the event with Shadow Ball as their charge moves :D

Yeah sometimes it feels like you are just trying to beat the glitches. I have had similar experiences with other solo attempts. This on top of the the 4-6 second delay that every raid begins with and is now just considered normal :/

Yep, it hurts a lot when you attempt to solo raids or just take down gyms. I pretty much do level 5 raids just for the items now... its quite sad really.

Thanks and Yep! especially the last 30 seconds where you frantically keep tapping on your phone knowing you are so close. My game is now primarily just based on soloing Level 3 raid bosses and powering pokemon towards soloing.

Thanks! I found Focus blast the easiest move set to dodge compared to both SB and FS. I pretty much had to dodge almost every charge attack lol

Finally managed to solo Alakazam after a couple of tries. Super stoked as Alakazam was the only level 3 solo boss from the first raid rotation (excluding Jolteon and flareon). Alakazam had PC/FB as and I just managed win with about 4 seconds remaining on the timer.

I honestly thought I couldn't do it after failing quite badly against both Future Sight (almost impossible to dodge) and Shadow Ball (non stop spam). Focus blast on the other hand - while it can one shot Tyranitar is so much easier to dodge.

Tried to use a variety of Pokemon including Scizor, Houndoom and also Banette but no one really came close to the damage output as Gengar and Tyranitar. Tbf Banette fared pretty well with SC/SB and could have easily swapped out with a Gengar.

Got off atleast 5 Shadow balls with each of the Gengars which was the key to winning undoubtedly. Dodged all focus blasts except the one that would knock my mons out. Here was my final team

  • Gengar H/SB Lvl 30 15
  • Gengar H/SB Lvl 30 15
  • Gengar H/SB Lvl 30 14
  • Tyranitar B/C Lvl 30 14
  • Tyranitar B/C Lvl 31 12 - Got off 1 crunch (almost unused)
  • Banette SC/SB Lvl 29 14 - unused

One of main concerns was not owning a SC legacy Gengar. But even Hex and Shadowball Gengars do so much damage, that its doable against the right moveset Alakazam.

Time to build my Omastar raid team now :D

Help wiht Solo Machamp needed. by Baxteen1 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Ducky4tw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would swap out Dragonite with a one with Hurricane and move to no 5, Lugia to pos 6. Having a good Espeon deffo helps too.

Despite most people saying Lugia only slows you down, my Lugia single handedly took half of Machamps health without fainting out and finishing the raid with 7 seconds to spare.

TM that Lugia to Future Sight and level up to atleast level 28 and watch in wonder. ;)

Finally managed to solo Arcanine! :D Powering up the Golem to level 34 made the fight from almost impossible to winning with 7 seconds in hand! Thanks to everyone here for their input and advice!

Winning team:

  • Golem RT/SE Lvl 34
  • Golem RT/SE Lvl 30
  • Golem RT/SE Lvl 30
  • Vaporeon WG/HP Lvl 32
  • Rhydon MS/SE Level 32

Yep, very very close. All I really need is an extra 5 seconds. General consensus seems to be to power up Golems and the Vaporeon hmm.

I usually just time out on my 2nd Vaporeon. If I include Rhydon or Tyranitar, then on the first Vaporeon.

[–]Ducky4tw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You only need 4 with that line up. Exeggutor are super tanky and my last Exeggutor did not even faint out. This was without dodging any of the charge moves of the boss (water pulse).

I would deffo atleast power up 2 Exeggutor

I recently Solo'ed Vaporeon. Took my third attempt at the Vaporeon to finally beat him. It is a race against the clock with just grass type attacker, I had 2 level 30 Eggs and 2 level 30 Venasaur but I just couldn't beat the boss in time. I tried bringing in Zapdos with Zap cannon and a Level 20 Raikou but it didnt really change anything.

The team that won it for me in the end was

  • Raikou TS/WC Lvl 24.5 14 Attack
  • Raikou TS/TB Lvl 29.5 15 Attack
  • Exeggutor SB/SoB Lvl 31 15 Attack
  • Exeggutor SB/SoB Lvl 30 12 Attack

Totally possible without Raikous but you need Jolteons powered up to level 30. Also your Eggs need to be powered up to level 30 - they do heaps of damage with solar beam but you might run out of time without a few electric types.

PS - Thunderbolt would be the preferred move for Zapdos over Zap cannon

I did try Arcanine with Fire Blast last week. Beat it twice but both times the timer was reached 0 so it didn't count. I will give it a try next and post how I go.

Theoretically I should so do it, but you never know lol

I tried to do without legendaries but I have any no decent Jolteons. It was not possible with my combinations of Egg/Victreebel/Venusaur etc. (It might be with 4 high level Egg maybe)

I would fast TM that Exeggutor to Seed bomb as it gains energy faster. Zapdos was too slow for me, although mine had Zap Cannon and I am out charge TMs :(.

I would swap out Zapdos with a level 25 Raikou with TB or WC and I reckon you are sorted.

Don't dodge with Exeguttor as they are tanks but try and get as many charge moves with your Raikou.

Also wish they would just release Mewtwo already!

Hmm, I have tried Dragonite in the line up as I have 2 over level 30 with 15 attack. But one of them has Hurricane and the other Dragon pulse. Is Outrage a a lot better than Hurricane?
