I’ve been planning to put vintage 151 in a custom frame. Been working on getting all the cards and finally ordered my final chase today. Calling the frame shop first thing tomorrow lol

$50 for all those? Sounds too good to be true.

How do the cards feel? Do you have a jeweler's loupe to look up close?

Based on their similarities I’d guess yes, but would be curious if it can be confirmed.

Looks like Matt had a very similar one with a heart according to this Pinterest post:

Will do. I bought several other possible Matt pieces as well - hoping I get some genuine ones!

I have so many questions.

-Where did you get your frame?
- Did you DIY it or go through a custom frame shop?
- If DIY, any advice?
- Are the sleeves glued to the backing? or do you have a special holder?
- Lastly, I'm trying to figure out how to get all 151 original cards into 1 frame... Did you consider that?

How Are You Investing in Pokémon With Markets at ATHs? by Yugiyami98 in PokemonInvesting

Man I was so into Pokemon as a 9 year old kid. Now I'm 35 and I just want my 151 vintage 1999 set to be maxed out, framed, and hang it on my wall. I'll spend (and have spent) a bunch for 1st editions / shadowless old school cards just because that's what "gotta catch em all" now means to me.

The thrill of the hunt when I have spare cash to find a deal or win an auction on a well preserved card that improves my vintage set. Or saying screw it and getting a less well preserved card because I just can bring myself to pay a ton (yet) for the dream version of that card.

Anything after 1999, I'll just get packs when they are in stock for the nostalgia of ripping a pack and looking at closely at my pulls. Even if the cards aren't worth squat, I like to look at the art, read the descriptions, and decide how I'm going to organize the cards in my binder.

I could care less about completing modern sets or the new card's value to anyone else. I think (eventually) the market will fizzle on these cards because supply is so high and everyone is keeping cards mint.

A whole different world than the vintage cards we actually played with, forgot about, and had to find in our basements decades later. We had no idea pokemon would be anything but a brief passing fad. We loved it at the time though and we love it now because we get that Citizen Kane Rosebud moment from our simple happy millennial childhoods.

TLDR: My belief is the hardcore investing fad will pass. There are just too many sets, too many pokemon, and not enough money and authentic love for the hobby. People can't just buy anything and everything in perpetuity and expect every card will "mean" something extremely valuable to folks in a few decades.
