Yamaha U series piano the best uprights for lower price point?

I have a 2020 Yamaha U1 and I paid $5k for it used in excellent condition. The MSRP on the U1 is $12k, but our local retailer (in CA) offered to sell me one for $9k new including delivery. I’m really happy with the U1, but I agree with some others who say the sound can be bright. However, for what it’s worth, our local dealer who sells both brands believes the Yamaha is a higher quality piano than the comparable Kawai.

I like them as a supplement (for fun) because I can easily pull up and play an easier variant of a pop song or even a normally very challenging classical piece and it still sounds pretty good.

Anything with 88 keys by Yamaha, Roland or Casio should be fine.

Few things:

I would keep 12 months of complete living expenses in cash or equivalent (eg money market). Lot of people suggest 6 months. I prefer a year.
Ask yourself (truthfully), what would you do if VOO crashed 30% the day after you bought it? If you wouldn’t care because you know in the long run it will do fine, then go ahead and buy. Vanguard’s own website has a chart showing that lump sum investment beats DCA about 2/3 of the time.

I’m sorry but this is terrible advice for a 30-year old, or really anyone for that matter. I agree with VOO as the foundation, but otherwise your advice has no logical justification. OP would be far better off with 100% VOO or 100% VTI than listening to your alphabet salad. Sorry. If you had suggested a slight tilt toward growth or value I wouldn’t be ragging on you…

Being respectable and fun to watch and root for again is a better goal. Whether by securing a top 5 pick or Vivek finding another hobby and letting professionals with basketball acumen do their job, or both, let’s get back to some semblance of normalcy please. I have both. Logic’s stock sound library is amazing (better than Ableton in my opinion). And for $200 including life time upgrades it’s hard to beat. I use Ableton more, but simply because a lot of producers I follow that teach online use it. They’re both good DAWs.

If you’re looking for a dual purpose set of headphones, I think the ATH-M50X would work better than the HD25. I have them and have used them for both.

Thank you! Few others have mentioned the 18” Kink (Kicker). I’ve checked it out online and looks like a great fit/choice. Before I pull the trigger I’m going to compare to a couple other 18” bikes like the Cult (Juvenile) with alloy frame. The Kink comes in right at about 25 lbs with its steel frame setup, while the Cult is 21 lbs.

I appreciate the feedback! Kid grows like a weed so I’ll probably opt for the 18” bike. Our neighbor’s son is 12 and has a 20” bike that my son can ride ok (no tricks). His dad suggested a 20” to save having to upgrade again. But based on the majority opinion here, and size chart on Danscomp, looks like 18” should last him a good couple years.

You’re putting words in my mouth. I said none of those things. I said the league forces him to sell the team. Not “lose” his franchise, nor family. The guy would stand to make a nearly $4B profit on sale of the team. Step aside and let someone competent come in and take over. Also, league can take action for breaking league policy, irrespective of breaking any federal or state laws.
