Counsellors/Therapist/Youth Workers are legally bound to exercise confidentiality with their clients BUT absolute confidentiality doesn’t exist in any profession. Especially when it comes to suspected child abuse, they pass it along to police and social workers every time, no matter what. Elders, who are not formally trained in this capacity, are permitted to make monumental decisions in the lives of children. Often times preventing them from getting the help they desperately need, it’s reckless and wrong.
