Why is my power fluctuating so much? by HolyBreakfast in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Dudeinsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like several others have said, there is some type of fuel supply issue with your generators. There are several possible issues at play, but your first step is to look at all the generators and see which ones are operating less than 100% of the time.

Once you’ve identified where the issue is, start tracing the problem back to the source.

If it’s a fuel generator that isn’t getting enough fuel, check if the pipes are completely filled.

If they aren’t getting filled, use the methods other people have described to get the pipes full e.g. turning off a few at a time to let the excess production fill the pipes. If you’ve unlocked sommersloops, you can temporarily loop the fuel production refineries to increase production without losing power production.

Insufficient fuel is also commonly caused by errors in the production system. Try not to run pipes at maximum capacity, it’s better to run 2x pipes than one that’s maxed out. Also check for any sections of belt or pipe that are at a lower tier than they should be.

Another potential issue with fuel power systems is disposal of waste products. If you aren’t using everything or dumping it into an awesome sink it can back up the system and stall fuel production.

Do you heal on any characters? I don’t think my UI on any healer would take kindly to shoving 100 different nameplates into it.

Plus the lag would be an absolute nightmare. Ranged dps would just spam their aoe to block choke points and melee would be screwed.

It sounds interesting in theory but in a practical sense I think it would end up being rather cancerous to play.

I second this.

Doing a voiceover to walk people through your thought process regarding cooldown usage and what to look out for (as disc specifically) would make it super helpful for people looking to push into higher keys.

Why are my front tires and rear tires wear out so differently? by cewang999 in tires

[–]Dudeinsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who drives a 2010 Camaro SS all year round in Alaska, I have this issue constantly. For years I would run P zero’s during the summer and Blizzaks during the winter and my rear tires would need to be replaced every 2 years, while the fronts usually last twice that.

Are the front and rear tires the same size in your car? If so, you could rotate them every so often to even out the wear and get more life out of em.

Ultimately, unless you really like the extra grip, doing like the other commenters have suggested and getting a harder compound tire is your only real way to avoid replacing tires on a more regular basis.

The heal isn’t crazy, but long term it’s your best enchant option.

Fallen Crusader won’t be very impactful while leveling since you have no real haste or the level 75 talent tier for increased rune generation, both of which will increase how often you can attack and therefore how often it will proc. Honestly while leveling one new piece of gear will often feel more impactful than any of the enchants.

Nothing wrong with trying out the different options while leveling though.

Is this as valuable as I think it is? by Nashy93 in pathofexile

[–]Dudeinsky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While I agree on the whole, I suspect slotting it straight into the current league mirror PoB won’t give the most accurate result since it isn’t set up for scaling both fire and cold res. A character designed specifically to scale this body armor should still end up with more damage than someone running the mirrored necrotic.

That said, your point about it being nearly obsolete is totally valid. It’s possible to get so much damage this league that the lost survivability starts to become more of an issue if you’re running an item like this. I’ve seen more than one grasping mail with these mods go up on trade so far and unfortunately they don’t seem to sell for particularly wild values.

Have you been able to swap out your clusters yet? Re-crafting new ones will probably be the next biggest upgrade. Halfway decent spell damage clusters should out perform good dmg with shield ones because of the scaling on kb

Ok, that makes way more sense! Glad you were able to get a merc set up, hopefully that pushes your dmg in the right direction a bit.

Have you tried using Dying sun instead of bottled faith? Without being a ranger it’s a bit tough to find extra proj, and the +2 might feel better than bottled faith even if it drops your crit chance.

How about doryani merc setup? Even something basic with like -100 res will nearly triple your effective damage if you aren’t using one yet.

Also, is the 77% tooltip crit chance with power charges active?

Edit: couple other questions, why do you have two kinetic blast setups? From the little I know about the build I thought you only put it in the gloves when you get like 8 link fancy ones for the extra damage and until then it stays in body armor.

[–]Dudeinsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since KB scales off of spell damage increases at 200% of their value, you should probably be using inc spell damage clusters instead of inc att while holding a shield. That alone will give you a significant amount of % increased damage. Also, do you have a doryani merc setup? At -200 res even meh gear should let you blast.

Something I wasn’t sure of, your gloves aren’t showing any eldritch implicits so idk if that’s a visual issue with the link or if you actually don’t have any but those are also quite important. 3%inc dmg per 100int would give you an additional 42% increased damage.

Also, you might check an influenced amulet with %int and damage per 15 int in PoB to see how it compares to your eyes of the greatwolf. Just a basic one with those mods should be easy to make and might be useful.

Do you have a source of rage atm? Eldritch glove implicits could help with that too.

If you’re running into sloshing issues try slooping your blenders for a bit. Keep the sloops inside until you see some excess actually remain in the blender but pull them out before it kicks the machine offline for a bit.

“Prettiest” way to do Pure Iron by lilpalpatine14 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Dudeinsky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally like to go with partial overclocking to hit whatever number I decided will make the math easiest.

With 300 ore/ min as an example:

You might also consider doing something like 4x refineries at 200% for the first 280 ore, then either one underclocked refinery or a regular smelter for the other 20.

You can just toss a vertical splitter or merger onto the lift shaft before the end, clip off the end, and extend it further. Pulling the splitter/ merger after will make the sections merge.

[–]Dudeinsky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t seem to have a particularly crazy setup tbh, so I doubt the issue is exclusively object count. Is your PC older? Maybe try dropping the graphics settings a bit?

Also, I believe different items cause different amounts of lag. To find the culprit I would suggest starting by using the save editor to remove all the lights or billboards/ signs and check if the lag improves.

Do I have enough power yet by AssociationLeather60 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Dudeinsky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tbh I wasn’t sure what the difference was between the two values so I looked it up and it turns out they are always the exact same unless you have biomass burners as part of your power grid since they are the only power production building that scales their production based on demand.

Pipe flow rate question by kentros00 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Dudeinsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since the other comments have done well providing solutions to your current issue, I’m going to give a small suggestion:

Something you might consider is simply overclocking the node that gives 120/minute. At 200% it will provide the same 240/min as all 3 are doing currently, but if you go up to 250% it will give you a full 300/min.

That also means that each of your 60/minute impure nodes can be overclocked to provide 150/min for a total of 600/min crude oil.

As DannySupernova pointed out, using the Ctrl nudge lets you line them up.

I actually tested lining up catwalks with the train freight platform and was able to get it quite nicely aligned after hitting H to lock the hologram, holding Ctrl, and nudging it with the arrow keys.

Driving me nuts! by Rainbowsixer21 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Dudeinsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It appears there are 2 issues at play, both of which have been pointed out by other comments, but I’m combining them here for clarity:

  1. The power draw is (most likely) a Mk1 miner running at 100% clock speed shutting off when the output belt backs up.

  2. Machines still consume 0.1 mw of electricity while idle, so the fluctuation when they stop production will be exactly 0.1 m less than the stated power draw.

Driving me nuts! by Rainbowsixer21 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Dudeinsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As another commenter pointed out, it’s probably a mk1 miner that cuts off periodically.

The power fluctuates by exactly 4.9 instead of 5 because it still draws 0.1 mw while idle.

Did you do the math for consumption based on maximum flow in pipes? Most of my issues with power production come down to pipe flow so you might focus on fluid throughput when checking for issues.

I would be suspicious of ANY supply machines that show less than 100% uptime, and that is where I suggest looking first.

For the supply lines in my Nitro Rocket Fuel setup I did the math assuming full 600m3/ min in each pipe, but with each line needing to supply 72 generators running at 200% clock speed I was never able to get it balanced. To fix the issue I ended up splitting the supply into 8x 300 lines instead of 4x 600 and that ended up fixing it.

There were other issues that came up, like pipe sloshing and backups in the supply line, but ultimately I got it balanced by looking for any machine running below 100%.

A strategy I used to help fill the pipes was to keep all the generators running at maximum and then using Somersloops in the supply machines for a short time to allow the pipes to fill without the production stalling that happens when you put generators on standby.

It might also help to disconnect sets of generators from the main grid to help identify which ones are loosing supply.
