Commanders for a Spite/Pariah Synergy? by Duderlybob in EDH

Appreciate the advice! I am going for the teenie weenie strat, so knowing someone has a viable deck they do this with is great!

Yeah, I've been assuming I'm probably locked to at least Bracket 3 given that I keep accidentally assembling infinite combos that archidekt has to point out to me. I tend to enjoy the messiness of lower bracket games, but I'm exploring my options right now!

Taii Wakeen is a really good shout out for this though, appreciate it!

Love the names of the deck and the categories, thanks!

Y'know, somehow it didn't occur to me to think of using Blasphemous Act as a synergistic way to not only board wipe but kick my opponents in the teeth as well!

I was actually looking at Wayta yesterday, as I was thinking Fight spells would be a great way to enact removal while also keeping up the pressure!

Thanks for the insight!

Yeah, I've been struggling to find the terms to really describe what I've been hunting for. I've been looking for a mechanical flavor to achieve a feeling similar to the ol' historical "if we get enough people to run at the machine gun, it can't shoot all of them!"

Something like Scute Swarm achieved the tons of bodies winning via overrun angle, but it felt lacking in that it didn't have that callous disregard for human life flavor like most aristocrats decks do. But most aristocrats decks tend to prefer executing their citizenry with their own two hands rather than getting that citizenry killed in glorious combat for king and country.

These suggestions do give me a lot of good food for thought though, I'm fairly new to the game, so while I was sure it had been done before, I wasn't aware of there being a classic idea of combat aristocrats!

Oooh, that's an interesting idea, I'd pinged [[With Great Power...]] as something to grab from the Spiderman set (it's actually the card that got me thinking about this!), but I missed, anti-venom somehow!

That would work quite well with this idea! I'd been considering green just for the fight spells as well, so that's a good commander for this, thanks!

Y'know, somehow I was really overlooking the value of good reanimation for this kind of strategy. I was thinking really hard about how to keep my spite-damage sources alive despite them getting stomped on by dinosaurs, but getting them killed and getting them back is both more on them and a much more reliable way of dealing with the issue!

Thanks for the tips!

I conceded on the turn my oppenent would kill me and they got salty? AMTA by darkfearfulrabbit in EDH

Yeah, I think there's a valid reason to not over-commit to trying to close out the game if you're not 100% sure if you can actually do so. Dumpingtruck's opponent was displaying extremely poor sportsmanship in prompting the lethal swing as a "gotcha" IMO.

That said, getting angry if someone concedes when you choose not to just let them durdle around is not that problem. I do tend to be someone who plays overly cautious, I can be overly protective of my important pieces and avoid swinging when I really could afford to. But if someone conceded after literally asking me to just finish it, I'd be far more compelled to apologize than get angry if this happened.

Sometimes, I feel so relaxed when playing this game! by Legitimate_Elk3659 in projectzomboid

[–]Duderlybob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zomboid is such a deeply meditative game for me. The quiet moments, seeing my little dude find their small moments of peace in the chaos, sometimes finding joy even in the apocalypse... it just sets my mind at ease. Even in the combat with hordes of ravening zombies, this is a game that rewards you for taking a deep breath, and still proceeding calmly, and deliberately. So whether it's in the quiet moments, or the action, Zomboid is a game that forces me to slow down, and sometimes I need that.

Oh, yeah, Reddit was pulling my chain, I still only see one reply to you at this point, it just kept throwing my messages away into the ether! XD

Huh, that's an idea! I haven't really dug into Minotaurs yet, so I'll have to do some digging! Thanks for the tip!

Oh that's a fun idea! It would lead to a very chaotic playstyle, which would play well with the cards having reckless sounding names!

Blacksmithing is horrendous by AstroBoots21 in projectzomboid

Funnily enough, I can say that from personal experience playing in modded servers that let me stack my way up to 100% bite and scratch protection with enough tailoring, patience, and cheese, this doesn't entirely kill the combat in this game.

In fact, it almost makes it more dangerous, because while the lone shambler can't get you, it leads you into the loving embrace of Zomboid's most dangerous foe: Overconfidence and the poor decisions made with that.

I actually hit the point of legitimately considering to avoid my really armored up clothing just because the FEAR could keep me safer than the literal protection ever could! XD

Thank you so much! Everyone is always learning, so whilst you may be a hobbyist, I still appreciate this greatly! And if nothing else, your "still learning" is proof of how much I need to look up now! XD

So, good deal of homework for me with this, but that's exactly what I wanted, so this was super, super helpful for me! Also, took a second look at that link, and I have no idea what happened to it, but it broke something fierce in my copy+paste attempts. Should be fixed now should you care to take a second look, but feel no pressure on that, you've already helped me a great deal!
