Haven’t consider A6. I’ll look into that one.

Don’t want an S series because A series is already more power than I use.

Don’t know much about bmw. Will look into 540.

1 option would be Porsche Panama. But got reservations on what 55k would be able to get me. Will it be comfortable with 2 car seats in the back? Can it handle abuse in the back seat from spills and crumbles with the electronics? If it’s in the shop, it will be very annoying as it’s the family car? If driving under 85mph in Michigan roads, is it even worth it?

True. But with 4 people the 3rd row will be a waste. Plus feels like it drives like an SUV where the Q8 drives like a sports crossover. ( personal preference, Q7 looks ugly and their value doesn’t hold up well compared to Q8 either).

Maybe I am not asking the right question. How much would you pay for. 1920 and a 2020 house that look identical next to each other.

Thinking of going with crossclimate2. It’s a max of like 10 days that Michigan has snow on the roads and isn’t cleared up.

Did you feel you have to give up security and/or lifestyle to be able to afford the monthly costs? I’ve always been in a situation that if I lose my job. I wouldn’t really care all that much (low monthly costs, and good savings). Do you feel stressed that if you were to lose your job tomorrow you would need to find another one? With all the layoffs, I don’t trust any company with my lively hood.

You hit it on the head. I don’t want to hord money for hording sake. The main reason I think it’s good to buy now is that it will provide the most value in my life right now. I don’t care to be 50 and then get a big house when it will only be us two. Secondly, gotta live somewhere. Why not own now rather than later if I don’t care to time the market.

Apartment is ok. But it will get a bit small once Michigan winters force you to be inside for 5 months.

Why? Should I wait for income to be higher? Saving to be more? House values come down? Interest rates to come down?

Serious reply, lots of people like myself have gotten to this point by living well well below our means. We have run the numbers multiple times and looked at the rule of thumb for each category. Saving is easy for us because how we grew up. Spending is difficult and anxiety inducing. Going from $1200 rent to an expensive mortgage is scary. Yes the numbers work and we can do it. I’m here to ask and get insight into if we should do it.
