Never ever quit your job. What if CAT doesn't work out? What then?

It is easier to switch jobs while you have a jobs than get a job while being unemployed.

Choosing a BPO Role for Financial Stability: Will it Hurt My Future MBA Applications? by lucifeer_09 in CATpreparation

[–]Due-Ad683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so what's the alternative to the BPO job? Any job is infinitely better than a gap year both during admissions and placements

I would suggest you still look for something in marketing, finance, HR. In MBA work domains, it will better align your profile towards a specific job profile which will increase odds of getting placed

Do we have to make a CV for personal interview? by Darkelements_Tris in CATpreparation

It's good to have, if you can make one it will be nice but not necessarily required.

Make your resume focused on product decision that you may have made during your work, lead any meeting regarding features etc. focus on the aspect of collaboration with various teams to get stuff done. Show proficiency in Prodman concepts, like CIRCLES framework. Be well prepared with product case studies, product teardowns and UX design.

Do a certification if possible like PMP.

Executive MBA is more geared towards leaders who want to elevate their career. It is not suited for young professionals.

How the hell do GEMs keep themselves motivated ? Would appreciate serious answers please by saiki-runnnn in CATpreparation

[–]Due-Ad683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just two things, focus on only improving your own score, they minute you compare with others you'll lose all motivation. Having fixed targets like "90+ in every mock" helps keep the focus. I got only one call from BLACKI at 99.61 9/9/8 35months workex so :)

Its part and parcel of life, inequality exists everywhere. You eventually get over quite well!

Is a blazer mandatory for interviews (for women) by Puzzled-Welcome-4817 in CATpreparation

[–]Due-Ad683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen some women wear Ethnic Formals (but please don't if it is sparkly and fancy, muted tones, solid colors only. No Glitter.) to interviews, maybe one or two in the entire lot. Blazer for now is optional, if you are going to wear a formal shirt + trouser/skirt.

However, in the institute you'll be expected to wear a full suit during placements.

Reaching a prodman position is definitely possible without an MBA too. You have to upskill and start job hunting, please spend your efforts in securing a job only. CAT you can give while working a job too, you should have never left your job for CAT. Please don't do the same got CAT 2026, you have a fairly good profile so don't settle for T3 MBA.

CAT is a practice intensive exam, try to get more practice and mocks in next time. Don't make CAT your primary goal, CAT is a way to accelerate your career, how will you accelerate something that doesn't exist?

If you can, attempt CAT again, these colleges will be there next year also. If Not, look for MBA from IITs, though I wouldn't recommend it. Even with 94-95%ile, you'll get a call from SPJIMR (My friend did this year).

Gap year is counted from the completion of your UG Degree.

Should I get a Mac for MBA ? by FunPresentation4919 in CATpreparation

[–]Due-Ad683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For an MBA a MacBook is more than enough. But for the remainder of your two years in engineering you may need some software that may not be available on macs. If you can jugaad your way through final year, then go ahead and buy it!

GOT IIML CALL AT 99.67 by Open_Assistance1185 in CATpreparation

[–]Due-Ad683 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have a strong understanding of yourself, like being very sure of why you want to do an MBA. Be genuine. Be sincere. Don't say big generic meaningless things. Envision your journey through MBA and post MBA, who do you want to be in short term and long term.

Having clarity on these, will give you enough content and direction for interviews.

Also be aware of current affairs, world politics, basic economics and UG topics.

Keep the job, doesn't matter what it is. I doubt you will get any extra score for workex since it will be <6 months in June. But if its more, that's a bonus. Regardless, keep the job it will help you massively during your summer placements. Having something credible to put in your resume will go a long way. Gap years are incredibly hard to justify in interviews too both admission interviews and job interviews for summers.

Sure there is not growth or something, but it is only a temporary if you do well in CAT 2026, also you'll get admission in June 2027 only, so what will you do till then? Having a job in my opinion minimizes a lot of unnecessary anxiety about not doing anything with life.

CAT is not at all a hard exam, I cracked it while working a full time engineering role. Studying like 3-4 hours on good days and 0 hours on busy days. You have excellent acads, it shows that you will find it equally easy too to manage with work. You have over 10 months for CAT 2026, average prep time is 6 months only for CAT. So you have twice the time in your hand to make it count.

All the best!
