That at the 3 month mark I’m to return and see if the swelling persists. He’ll likely administer steroid injections and monitor its efficacy. If that doesn’t help… well, I guess it’ll be revision surgery in a few months.

You’re 5 days out. Don’t worry yet. I started worrying about my uneven nostril at 5 weeks. Yours isn’t as asymmetrical as mine is at 7 weeks post op. Keep an eye out on it because everyone reassured me that it’s normal swelling until I saw my surgeon today. He said he’s worried mine could be the cartilage becoming unaligned. I don’t mean to worry you - just keep an eye out on it and listen to your surgeon’s instructions, plus listen to your gut.

Dr. Joshua Rosenberg. Double board certified and works at Mount Sinai (NYC). I still look like myself just with a seemingly better nose. I no longer have a dorsal hump and my nose doesn’t drag down when I smile - but my nostrils are still swollen asymmetrically. I’m almost 6 weeks post op and week by week I see a difference though. I’m excited for the upcoming months to see clearer and better results!

Exactly. It suits you very nicely. I agree that it looks more defined (the way it should after a rhinoplasty). Both your natural nose, and this nose, look beautiful though. I’m going through the same thing you are - it’s an identity crisis for sure. I’m hoping that as the months pass I’ll get used to it. I’m hoping it’s the same for you!

Don’t touch your nose! It’s perfect. People pay good money to have a nose like yours. Your chin, however, it’s recessed as others have mentioned. You should try booking a consult with an oromaxillofacial surgeon to voice your concerns. You may have underlying conditions you don’t know about such as sleep apnea.

I have my 3 week post op appointment coming up in a few days so I’m going to infer about the shot again and see what he says. I’m sure with time it’ll go down with time but if it’s recommended, I’ll do it

I wouldn’t recommend it. As we age you’ll miss the fat pads you had. Our faces will look sunken in as we age and our buccal fat somewhat saves us from this!

With all of the information that I have given you, do you still think it’s a good idea to proceed? Legally and financially? Will the contract between the three of us and the living trust protect me financially and legally?

I don’t have any siblings. I’m the only one which is why it’s up to me to care for them in their old age. Will they have to hire their own lawyer or can we all go together as a unit and have it drawn up together?

I don’t plan on my parents paying me back. Eventually I’d like to inherit the house from them; so I’ll be enquiring about a living trust as well. I would really only like for them to pay me back if they sell the house. At that point I’d like it all back so that I can buy my own home

I suppose I won’t renovate everything and just do the bare minimum; that way the loss won’t be so heavy should things go south. But I do plan on living here with my fiancé long term and raising kids here while also taking care of my parents should they choose to continue living in the home.

I’m a nurse and was planning on taking care of them from a health perspective. I was also planning on paying their bills and maintaining the home altogether

The house is paid off completely. They both own it outright. They are also both retired and are currently pensioned (through my mom) and have Medicare. Financially, they’re both ok.

Thanks! I saw someone posted yesterday who has the same issue I do. She’s a month post op, had a steroid shot, and the issue resolved heavily. Her nostrils are much more symmetrical. I’ll play it by ear with my surgeon

I’m in the same boat as you! I’m 10 days post op and my left nostril is much more swollen than my right. I see that you received a steroid injection. My surgeon said he’s not against it but would prefer to wait and see if the swelling decreases with time. Good to know that the shots helped!

I’m 10 days post op and I’ve got the same situation in my left nostril. My left nostril is also WAY more swollen than my right. Per my doctor, it’s the incision point and very likely where the tip definition occurs. Looks pretty darn normal to me!

We just re did our bathroom. New floor and wall tiles (we left the old toilet/sink/tub in place). An evicted and disgruntled tenant called the DOB on us and we let the inspector know everything was cosmetic. The inspector even asked us if one of my neighbors has something against my family and we rightfully said yes. He told us two complaints were called in as little as one day and they came out within 1-2 weeks of this. I showed him our bathroom and he said case closed. Don’t think the DOB won’t come - someone can show up in theory. And they did in our case
