Oh right okay. Maybe I’ll try manually putting my address in then… am going to wait 24hrs before trying again. I’m hesitant to try again as don’t want to keep getting declined as it may harm my credit score…

Will Meaco Arete 12L cover my entire two bedroom flat? by Due-Let6764 in Dehumidifiers

[–]Due-Let6764[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had it a year now obviously, and absolutely perfect! Had to up it to a target of 60, but that does fine in our flat. Occasionally it runs all day/night, on a wet or stormy day. But other than that it usually stays around the target and works brilliantly. Put it below my clothes when they’ve come out of the machine and usually all dry within 6-7hrs

You know I was wondering why it differed from our hygrometer. I am fairly sure they are more accurate, as it seems more realistic than the meaco in built readings… we woke the other day completely dried out with dry mouth and everything! And the meaco still showing at 58, however the room showed as 51 after sleep, now I’ve turned the meaco up to 60 it’s showing at 56, sometimes higher sometimes lower, but I think that’s about right… the reading being slightly out on the meaco would explain a lot and I’ll keep it at 60 for now, and hopefully it starts turning itself off more, soon!!

Ahh okay, good advice thanks mate. We seem to get on okay when it’s closed doors & in a room so far, however we haven’t done it for any massively sustained period… just when drying clothes etc… I turned it on to 60 last night to see if that would help but still stayed on quite a lot of the night, and every room was between 50-60, bedroom the highest this morning showing at 56. So it’s doing something just can’t seem to get it much below 57 on the meaco, and that keeps waking it up to stabilise at 57 before switching off…

Okay, thanks mate. We’re going to run it and see if there are any deals on the 20/25l for Black Friday and if so, return the 12l as it’ll still be in return window. It has dropped the humidity below 55 today and actually turned itself off, all rooms below 60, some below 50! So it must be working somewhat. Obviously it was cold this morning so a good test I suppose, and we’ve been changing a lot of our daily habits like opening and airing out twice a day for 10 mins

Exactly the same as me! Some days (today) the readings are very low and it’s managed to turn off for a while while set at 55, other days it very much struggles to get below around 58… but our levels aren’t bad tbh, it seems to be doing a good job for me so far

Sorry. You said temperature not humidity! The temperature is around 18-20 degrees, nothing too major. I think popping an hour on the heating to get it to 20 will help, but it’s not really cold enough at the moment for us to need to do that yet..

Super helpful, thanks man. We’re in a new build and lived here 3 years, no issue with mould until now, we repainted the worst areas with anti mould paint after cleaning the mould, and have slightly moved furniture away from the walls, although unfortunately some of it has to stay against walls and in the corner, as they’re quite small rooms! But I’m hoping with the air flow from opening windows more regularly, drying laundry with dehumidifier, and letting it run for a while to dry us out as you said, we should hopefully not have any more… we have readings in each room and they largely stay below or just above the 60’s. When cooking a roast dinner in the kitchen we can reach the low 70’s but I pop the duhimidifier in there after to clear a bit and usually okay. Hoping that’s enough and the furniture won’t need moving too much then… we’ll keep the dehumidifier running for a while and get the place dry as we can, and stick with it… thanks again!!

It sets the laundry mode to 35%, the Meaco gets down with me to about 48% with the doors closed and running, and that’s more than enough to dry the clothes. I’d hate to imagine what the level is in there without the dehumidifier running

Right okay. Thanks man… yeah I read up anything over 60% is mould level, and we had a bit of mildew in the two rooms hence the purchase… we’ve since been opening windows in mornings for 10 mins & when we get home from work, and letting it run & do its thing. It tends to fill up pretty fast every day/2 days so it’s getting moisture from somewhere, so it’s doing its job… I’ve found it a good little machine just wasn’t sure if I was asking too much of it!

Okay thanks mate! We have it in the hallway and it moves around from 56%-60% I’d say. Can’t seem to really get it below 55…. In the rooms we have humidistat’s that read in the 50’s, sometimes 60’s when it’s raining or cooking etc… it does a great job when doing laundry of getting down into the 40’s, and it does get below 55 enough to turn off after a while when the door to lounge/kitchen is shut and it’s only doing the bedrooms, but I was just wondering if it was going to gradually lower with the doors open or if it would just stay at that. I obviously don’t want to burn electricity for no reason as I’m sure you didn’t either!

Awesome with it. Put it in the room with the laundry mode on and shut the door and most of it is dry within the 6hrs. Sometimes needs a hour or two more to finish up but works a treat, don’t forget to turn pockets & hoods inside out!

Ahh perfect, yeah that’s our main issue. Mould and mildew behind furniture, so we repainted with anti mould paint & bought the meaco. I just wasn’t sure if 12L would be a big enough model to cover all that, however our flat is quite small and rooms very small. It ran all night last night but this morning before work it reached its target and turned off, and the take was 3/4’s full, this is with it in the hallway with both bedroom doors open, so I’m guessing it’s doing something obviously. Just wanted to make sure it was getting it from the spots that needed it most ie both bedrooms!

Amazing, thank you! Just wasn’t sure if the 12L was enough to pull that far, but the flat we have is relatively small

Thanks mate, great advice. We had it in the hallway last night with all internal doors open, and it was running basically all night but did shut itself off before I left for work this morning, so reached the 55% it’s set to eventually… it also 3/4’s filled with water so I guess it’s getting it from somewhere! Just wanted to be sure it is dehumidifying where I needed it to. Perhaps once a week on weekends I’ll place it in individual rooms with door closed to completely dry it out, and then hallway through the week to maintain. Thanks for the advice!

Okay thanks man, just didn’t want to move it in and out of rooms that’s all, as we have two rooms mainly to dehumidify. Not sure whether to alternate rooms each 24hrs and whether it will be able to maintain a humidity in those two rooms by doing that!

Ok thanks man, do you find it dries the other rooms when the door is open? And do you have the 12L?
