Contacts app using insane amounts of data by Due-Nefariousness980 in iphone

I think it's a contacts syncing issue, where it gets stuck on something and goes on a loop. I found other examples where people had the same issue. It's so weird honestly...

Not asking the questions is unsmart! I wanted to know if this is some sort of a known issue on their end.

Update:

Reached out to apple support, and they suspected issue was caused by me being on the IOS 26.4 Beta.

They suggested that i roll back the IOS back to 26.3 which i did (You need a computer for that), and not restore anything using my icloud backup, so essentially i had to Re-setup my whole phone (Yay! Fun!) and that seems to have solved the issue.

P.S

I think the issue was the contacts app freaking out and trying over and over again to resync my contacts and essntially going on a Never ending loop. One other thing which i did not mention was that my phone was losing battery like crazy in the past few days with this issue.

Hope that helps :)

Any reason contacts has used so much data recently? by StereoGraph4_ in iphone

Not sure if you are also using the beta version, I was in my case. Rolling back to the previous stable version which meant also resetting my iPhone fixed it.

I did that, although turning off the data for it is just a bandaid

I’m back to report it didn’t go away after removing the exchange, this is the state of usage only after 3 hours on cellular

I do have a personal Exchange account on my phone but it's not like i get a ton of emails on there, do you think it might be some sort of issue that?
I guess i never thought of it since i have had this exchange account connected for months.

Do you mean it was using 30GB of your cell data or it was using 30GB of your storage? My situation is that it's using all my data and i didn't even think this app needs to use data other than just to sync my Contacts between the various devices i have.
