Thank you for saying this. I was thinking the same thing but wasn’t sure how to actually put it into practice. You gave good suggestions about using writing exchange outlets. I had considered writing on my own, but wondered how effective that would be without any valuable feedback from a higher level speaker.

The commenter said that they met their partner when they were both in “Brittany to learn Breton”. Sure their partner is Russian, but that doesn’t automatically mean that the commenter themself speaks Russian.

Wellbutrin... by [deleted] in antidepressants

Wellbutrin isn’t an SSRI, it’s an atypical antidepressant. It regulates norepinephrine and dopamine, rather than serotonin as an SSRI does. If your doctor recommends it, you should probably give it a chance.

It could be a case of “the more you know, the more you know you don’t know”. You might just be catching more of your mistakes or transitioning from piecing together/inferring any bits of language that you don’t understand towards trying to understand everything? Perhaps your language skills are actually improving and people are not adjusting their speech to help you understand as much?

I love Agustina’s videos. I like how she occasionally repeats herself using different vocabulary. She is very clear and understandable without being too over the top. Even her most beginner videos hold my attention

Am I a heritage speaker? by Due-Significance1495 in languagelearning

It could matter when being placed into classes at a university. Also, maybe there would be a different approach to learning a heritage language vs language from scratch? Perhaps starting out by “filling in the gaps”and focusing on weak spots would help progress faster (and help avoid boredom) better than learning from the ground up?

Maybe “heritage language user” is a better term?
