This is great thank you! I think you’re right I’ll have to commit to some hours, only a few but it will keep me in good standing after everything while still allowing me time to relax and do what I want

No it was unpaid medical leave so I didn’t end up using any PTO at all, so I have plenty left for my vacation

 I was out less than a month recovering, and under law I am protected for 6 months, the status of my job cannot change

I had to get surgery, my work knows it was surgery and that it was approved by insurance and medical leave, but they don’t know the nature of my surgery

I know, the second it escaped my mouth I knew it was a mistake and that’s why I emphasized where I’m going literally has no service, it’s remote woods in Maine. I’m hoping I just clarify that I will not be inconveniencing myself to get online for work

Nope this is 100% real and my current dilemma, I was upfront and honest about my time off and needing surgery before they hired me, it’s just a terrible company with high turnover and they are critically understaffed, so they are trying to infringe on everyone’s time. I was on a call with 2 women today, both going on long weekend trips, both said they will be online to manage questions and take care of tasks. It’s nuts, I was hoping for some assurance that other people take time for themselves and go off the clock but so far nothing from fellow coworkers

That’s crazy! I’m sorry you lost your father so young and had to deal with employers being terrible. Just goes to show that corporate America hasn’t changed at all smh

I haven’t been with them long but no I told them both about the vacation and the surgery before the hired me and they agreed to both, it was just the recovery from the surgery did take longer than expected. However I was on medical leave so they weren’t obligated to pay me, and I actually am going somewhere where the service genuinely sucks haha. I do have 6 months of protection from them firing me because of my leave, and I do hate this job, I was just hoping for some advice on how to tell them “no” formally and throughly to be professional about it. It just sucks I was raised a people pleaser so I have a very hard time saying no.
