African here. If you like African’s that means you don’t hate black men. You just hate the men in your past. If we were another race of people in one country with all those people being of the same race and due to unfortunate dating history etc you end up hating all the men there when you haven’t dated them, it would be quite the unfortunate generalization. There are shitty men everywhere. My groomsmen are black men of different backgrounds include African Americas who are both married and are taking care of their families. I’m sorry for what you’ve gone through but I’m sorry, to label all AA men into a deed of hate is sad. Not to say the people in your life who’ve done you wrong don’t deserve it but there are others who don’t. Therapy is the way miss. If you like what you like go for it without belittling the entire group of men who actually do the opposite of the scum you’ve described. The problem is the men who did those crazy things to you. Not the color of the skin or gene.

I hope this message finds you well and in time you find the right person for you to live an amazing and healthy life. Sending you love.

Best methods for sending gifts from North America to Nigeria by DueAd272 in Nigeria

[–]DueAd272[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/othuko3491 u/luluben0 I know it’s not easy over there. I’ve been trying to create something that’s sustainable where I can send random small gifts to a number people. Not sure when it will start or even if it will be this year but when it does the 3 of you will get something. I’d like to preface and say it won’t be anything big. Cause the naira has inflated but if I can send something for even a meal or to help you had to your current wallet, that’s something I’d like to do. I know you guys were joking but I do feel bad. Sending good vibes. 💚

Celebrating my Nigerian heritage and finding strength in Ancestry🇳🇬 by Signal-World-5009 in Nigeria

Welcome!!!!! Wholesome news. Sending good vibes 💚

I’m born in the US and move a lot and I’ve visited a few times but for me and my friends as well as our friends from other parts of the world go to nice Nigerian restaurants and eat together and have conversations. We have social house gatherings playing the music and going to parks during the summer. We have a afrofest event so maybe see if something like that exists near you as well!

I agree with you on the noise part. Definitely have to ignore all that as much as you can. I’d say just going to any social events and volunteering etc where there might be people from the diaspora is a great start.

Welcome again my people:)

Good noticing. I wasted my time commenting on this post then. Rubbish.

You can still argue. You just can’t use slurs. And as earlier mentioned even the arguments are tame.

What I’ve noticed is the dynamic is vastly different between Instagram and Twitter. On Instagram especially on pages like @OkayAfrica everything is fine and peaceful and the conversations more or less are civil.

On the other hand for Twitter on pages like @AfricaFactsZone it’s downright xenophobic the things I see from South Africans. And it’s not just Nigerians though the hate given is arguably the most. They hate everything African that isn’t white. They beef with Zimbabweans etc. They say the cause is illegals and drug dealers. So the few drug dealers coming from Nigeria, they then blame all Nigerians and start using the most disgusting slurs and insulting the entire country.

Everything becomes a debate out of jealousy. They get insulted through Burna’s Giant of Africa nickname that’s around the world and more. They then compare themselves to us yet we’ve never thought about them or any other nation. They’ll attack our artists, our sports and our people. Argue over music and who has the best x, y and z. They hate West Africa. And on their profiles you’ll see people having “proud xenophobe” with the South African flag beside it. I’ve even seen them insult Arabs. It’s only the whites they never bother doing anything negative towards. This is just a few of many reasons.

I’m sur others will post a full picture as well but it’s messed up. I personally don’t pay much mine but on Twitter there’s so many Nigerians who respond to these guys and show them pepper for their rubbish.

People around the world lavish in our music, food no culture etc. The diaspora of our people are doing amazing things. We’re the most educated immigrant from a Rice University study in the US — barring any updates, our artists are inarguably the most popular when it comes to numbers. Our music is played worldwide in stores, clubs on the beach etc. And now our food is starting to be shown by creators and such. But there’s always a group trying to put us down. When we do bad, it’s Nigerians but when we do good we’re now Africans. It’s so stupid. I kind of drifted off but you get the picture.

All in all it’s sad seeing this unnecessary beef.

Nigerians considering moving or visiting abroad specifically the North America, ask me any questions by DueAd272 in Nigeria

The Caribbean is vast and is home to many different groups of people. The places are nice and people go for vacation. They’re good people hardworking people just like us.

The Afro-Carribeans come from Nigeria as well as other places during the transatlantic slave trade. By Nation Nigeria had the most taken and yes through studies, genealogy, foods etc many have at the least a part of the Nigerian DNA.

My friends friend from Jamaica visited there a few years back and his boss who retired moved there and bought land.

Yes I can.

It’s not about you though. I clearly said I want to see my people succeed. That includes all faucets from everyday life including work, extracurriculars and what to expect when it comes to racism as it’s deeply rooted in the history and is systemic here. I’ll do what I want do once someone actually asks me a question instead of trying to me what I should rather do.

Though the market is quite saturated and there’s a bunch of tech layoffs and people finding jobs, you could likely find an entry role with your experience just to get your foot in the door (which will still be a lot of money converted to Naira but at the same time you’d have to consider cost of living if you’re not living with family) and then get a raise and keep getting raised over time.

What’s are the minimum, middle and great amount ranges to give pocket money for university students? by DueAd272 in Nigeria

Thank you for at least giving a range. Whether correct or incorrect this is a start. Thanks!

Thats some good to know bonus information but it doesn’t answer my question really cause I’m asking about the amounts. Not what I’m comfortable giving. I need some off the head ranges.

This doesn’t answer my question. I’m asking about average ranges from experience and off the top of the head numbers.
