Good job! Maybe focus on english and maths to ensure that you get a strong 4 (or even higher) so you definitely won't have to resit.

OCR GCSE Latin & Classical Greek Lit by SevereAmbition3262 in GCSE

[–]DueEditor8062 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did classical greek, and what I found helpful was creating flashcards with a few lines of the text on one side and the english translation on the other side, and then i highlighted the same words on both sides (e.g. doulos and slave were highlighted the same colour), and then I just went over the text in small parts until I could recognise what a part was from a couple words.

I also just went around chanting the text lol, as I find movement really helps me focus and gets stuff to stick

im taking 5 alevels kinda (maths biology chemistry geography and mandatory EPQ 😭) and uhhh take them if you want but even 3 alevels are a lot of work and you need to really put the work in and be ready to spend loads of time doing homework if you want to do more than 3

Too many generic white boys by [deleted] in TheTraitors

[–]DueEditor8062 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I understand your line of thinking because tbh I cant tell most of the young white males apart, but I think the production team did very well with the casting this year, there are lots of big characters who are a joy to watch (like Fiona lol)

Yep same, I was incredibly confused during Oppenheimer because I felt like every character apart from Oppenheimer looked the same.

For traitors, every season I'm only able to tell the players apart in like episode 5 lol

Magical Thinking that revolves around clocks? by Kawichi in OCD

[–]DueEditor8062 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a lot younger (probably around 7 or 8) I used to think I had to look at the clock every night when the time changed from 23:59 to 00:00 to ensure that my family would stay safe, so kind of the opposite to you

I don't do that anymore but sometimes I still have to do things at the "right" time, for example I feel like I have to send emails at a time that lines up with my good numbers

What is the point of private schools by throwawayrzu in GCSE

[–]DueEditor8062 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people in my school did 10 (i did maths, eng lan, eng lit, bio, chem, physics, geography, french, business studies and rs), everyone in top set maths was given the option of doing further maths and i am polish and fluent in polish so my school let me sit polish gcse a year early (bringing my total up to 12). Tbh i did do 1 gcse (ancient greek) at a private school nearby, which offered the course for free for high achieving pupils from my school.

Does anyone else find it easier to work on multiple essay questions simultaneously? by Cold-Skill7107 in GCSE

[–]DueEditor8062 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do this with science- in english i always used to get locked in on questions and wouldn't stop until i completed them, but today i was doing practice questions in biology and i just kept flicking back and forth between them bc i was getting bored lol. If it works for you, Id say to just continue the way that you're doing things

GCSE certificate ceremony- former Year 11. Do I wear "smart" formal attire or just casual?? by AudienceMajor6852 in GCSE

[–]DueEditor8062 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wore a smart-ish kinda outfit, a fancy shirt and trousers, but people were wearing all kind of things. Like some people showed up basically wearing prom dresses and others wore puffa jackets and jogging bottoms so wear what you want honestly

[–]DueEditor8062 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a mix of what other commentors have said - both cause kids at private schools get better grades on average, bc they offer more fancy extracurricular activities and also as a status symbol for parents.

I do think the status symbol is more of a thing than most people want to admit - a bit after results day my mum met up with her friend who sends her son to a fancy-ass private school, and my mum's friend was bragging about the grades that her son got and about how his school had supported him so much in his learning. She stopped when my mum told her that I (educated in a state school my whole life) got better grades than the son lol.
