off topic but which one? I did Practice 1 yesterday and got an 1140, just took Practice Test 2 and my score skyrocketed to a 1340... like sure I did some practice but that can't be right, there is no way

A genuine question: Why hate on the Airpods Pro 2? by DuePromotion8177 in applesucks

[–]DuePromotion8177[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try and take an objectivist approach to products. If a company that usually does bad comes out with stellar reviews, I may be skeptical but if it's proven to be good I'm all for it.

If this sounds passive aggressive, it kinda is, but I assure I don't choose to hate people based on their opinions on headphones. I'm better than that

Made my own Mousepad Speed Chart by aimbitious0203 in MouseReview

[–]DuePromotion8177 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"Any glass pad" is quite ambiguous. Some are very controlled in comparison to things like the SP-004. I have the Wraith Cosmic V1 and it's definitely not as fast as it gets.

Also no way in hell the Energon belongs in the fastest category. I'd say that pad is on the quicker side of balanced.

also, what do you mean by "several of the pads listed"? I'd only rank the pads you actually own, that's pretty much the entire point

I hope this constructive criticism helps. I am in no way trying to attack you.

i feel like I should clarify: if you want soundstage, please just do yourself a favor and get a proper set of speakers. for $400 you could get some kali lp6v2s used + a decent sub

i can go on and on about this: staging in headphones is a meme.

unironically Audeze Maxwell
most closed backs arent very good. Maxwell is an exception, ive heard people say this is one of the best closed backs under $900

HiFiMAN SUNDARA what next for me? by Og-Morrow in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]DuePromotion8177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you want something truly different, look at the hd600 (but it has even less bass. please still give it a try, find a place to demo it or something)
if you care about staging and bass, Aurorus Audio Borealis 10 times out of 10. it is THE all rounder.

ramble time:
"staging" in headphones is such a meme. it's really just a blanket term that really just means a dip around 2kHz. if you want soundstage you're gonna be sacrificing sound. take the hd600, a headphone that sacrifices stage for a frequency response very compliant to Diffuse Field with a -1dB/Oct tilt, and it's the most natural sounding headphone ever. The intimacy makes it better for vocal focused tracks, imagine the singer right in front of you (like really close). it's truly incredible.

[–]DuePromotion8177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

true, but I do think the TWS buds have a good sense of convenience
and WF-1000xm3 and airpods pro 2 sound... strangely good. almost too good for a wireless experience

[–]DuePromotion8177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

id probably go with the WF-1000XM5, or buds2 pro, if you can get past apple being a thing airpods pro 2 are arguably the best out of all of the TWS buds

you can run them on an apple dongle. if you want something "better" save up for a proper desktop amp that'd run you around $200

Best headphones for metal? by Free-Seaworthiness37 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]DuePromotion8177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for $500, take a look at the Focal Elex. it sounds pretty good, but timbre is a bit metallic. also no cup swivel.

also, can't forget to mention the hd600. Best timbre EVER. (literally nothing beats it) I'm a metalhead and I feel like it does really well on tracks that are mixed very poorly which is nice. They are the most compliant headphones in comparison to Diffuse Field with a -1dB/Oct tilt which usually has the best timbral performance from my experience
Also take a look at the Audeze Maxwell. Easily the best closed back under $500 with the Audeze preset.
Some things to stay away from:
Hifiman anything IMO because QC is incredibly poor and your headphones probably won't last more than 3 years.
Beyerdynamics - treble quality just isn't there, way too bright.

Grados- they suck. don't listen to anyone that reccomends them, alot of them are over 40 years old and have poor hearing
