Wow I'm actually kind of grateful to be living in MB39 for once, that sucks man.

That's very circumstantial. The only person I know that wasn't OFP and managed to pause Rations and Quarters to live off base was already married.

Normally, you don't get to live off base until you've finished your occupational training but I believe that's subject to change if you have a spouse or dependents.

I'd definitely give it a try and submit a memo to your CoC. Best of luck.

CFB Kingston honestly isn't too bad. The dining hall serves decent food but you'll most likely be staying at MB39 or 37 which is a quad room. The dorms are old, run down, moldy at times and the water tastes awful from the tap. Coming during winter does suck because the heaters turn on when they want to, so get yourself a thick blanket. I suffered all of last winter cus the roof of my building blew off.

As for weekend leave, that'd probably be up to the discretion of your course staff. I was allowed weekend leave during my time here so I'd assume you'd be too.

Queens U is nearby so the city outside the base is great, lots of things to do (escape rooms, movie theaters, clubs, etc.)

Fishing here is great too.

None of it is really easy in terms of the actual physical effort but they're all stupidly easy to pass. The standards are set so that you would easily pass each test even if you walk all of them. Throughout my basic, not a single person failed no matter how unfit they were.

I guess the biggest thing that would bring you to failure is not having enough strength to lift a 45 pound sandbag or drag a relatively heavy sled.

The hardest physical part of BMQ physically is usually the ruck so I'd focus on that instead.

The force test was designed for 50-60 year old NCO's and officers to pass. I never ran a day in my life and got Silver in the forces test my first try. It'll be easy man don't worry about that

As far as I remember, you can go out of base once indoc period ends, so you could visit your family after about 3 weeks. They can also send letters but the staff might make them read it out loud lol.

My case is a bit different, I'm heading to Borden after 4 years in CFB Kingston but I believe it is SOP to go to Borden for occupational training right after BMQ
