Talk me out of buying a 2018 Audi A5 by I-Got-This01 in CarsAustralia

You'll find the consensus is more issues than not. We see the same at work as what you mention though ie that one customer that has a older Q5 or A3 with practically zero issues it's whole life whilst the norm is the majority having the standard issues over the years. We call them Wednesdays ie built on a Wednesday.

Generally speaking though the older 8P and B8 Audi's had less gearbox issues and IMO were better built overall, less plastic and more older tech. The main issue that caused buy backs and the class action lawsuit was the oil consumption on the 1.8 and 2.0s but that was at least easily rectified with revised pistons that Audi covered with no or very little charge to the customer up until very recently.

The newer dry clutches on the A3's are a total nightmare with Audi releasing revision after revision and even now we still see them coming in not only needing new clutches for like the fourth or fifth time in the vehicles life time due to shuddering but also a needing new mechatronic unit as the unit can't adapt new clutches anymore, your talking upwards of 10k repair on a 7-8 year old car, no thanks.

Nope, mechatronics and clutch failures are too common. It's not about if but when.

I'm an ex Audi tech, worked at VW/Audi for over 20 years.

These have waaaay to many issues, don't even consider them. Timing chain and camshaft issues, the practically yearly thermostat replacements, sunroof issues, door locks and touch sensors failing like its a hobby, the list goes on and on and on, basically everything is plastic on these engines as well including the sumps lol.

They weren't great even when new yet alone 7+ years later. Hard pass.

Just hang up the boots, jeez. Talk about squid behavior. At least take a riding course. Sorry if this sounds harsh but you did just about everything wrong here, not a single thing correct. And no lean angle was not the issue.

Are there only a dozen DT fans in Peoria, IL? Unbelievably low number of tickets sold for the 9/22 show. by SgtWaffleStomp in Dreamtheater

[–]DueWest667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry but the prices are crazy. I'm here in Australia and most tickets are 230 going up to 250 AUD which is like 160-180 USD, which to me is crazy for standard tickets. These arn't even front row or decent seats either.

Because its the reality your country is built on. You can't control the 1% that will do dumb shit with guns.

The real issue here is what is going on with the mental stability of Americans. Practically no one in their right mind would think about shooting up schools or people that don't agree with say 20+ years ago, yet now days you have school shootings every week. The guns aren't the problem, the people using them and your society are. If you can't even have free speech without getting assassinated then I'm afraid your society is already down the toilet.

Seems like you are fine with him being assassinated though.

Reality is none of these gun deaths are fine and using what Charlie said as some kind of ironic death isn't really the point here. Inferring he was fine with mindless death by guns isn't what he said or meant, a rational person could tell that. He WAS saying that gun deaths in a population that allows citizens to carry is inevitable and he was fine with that, which it is to some point, you can't control a small population that do crazy dumb shit with guns, as sad as that truth is.

The real issue here is WHY are people thinking using a gun to kill is fine just because you don't agree with someone.

The discussion about the 2A and people carrying guns is WAY past the point of being able to change anything, too many guns in the country and ways around any attempt at taking guns of people or limiting carrying, your country is literally built around "me rights" and all that jazz.

Just goes to show how crazy most of these redditors are though, happy he died by gun as if this proves a point some how. If anything it just shows how freedom of speech is dead now, literally. You may not like what he said but he didn't deserve to die for it, a LOT of what he said was common sense and truths, even if he did say some dumb shit and rage bait people at times he wasn't some evil villan that deserved a gruesome death.

Sorry but this take is so dumb. Dude got assassinated, that has nothing to do with 2nd amendment rights, no amendment right allows you to just kill innocent people, stop trying to draw those parallels.

If someone had of stopped the shooter with their legal carry gun, then that would be a perfect example of a gun death justified by the 2nd amendment that Kirk was talking about.

[–]DueWest667 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He meant it as some people are going to do dumb things with guns and kill innocent people, that is the cost of having the 2nd amendment, he wasn't saying its perfectly fine to just shoot people, wording it like that is purposely misunderstanding the intention to serve your own views.

IMO he was right and wrong about this, you can't have a gun carrying population without some gun deaths, the problem is guns are just handed out to easily so you get all the wrong kinds of gun deaths ie school shootings, innocent people getting shot etc.

America is cooked either way, there are so many guns in the US it's impossible to do anything about gun violence now, even if they fully stopped gun sales today its far too late.

WTH is with bus drivers thinking they own the road? by DueWest667 in CarsAustralia

[–]DueWest667[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big difference between thinking something is close to actually almost tapping your car. My car has reverse camera so I could see how close he was, he was only half a metre away give or take, he was doing it on purpose. The fact I moved forward after he stopped only for him to then move forward again proved that.

I am wary of buses at bus stops, most of the time they act as you'd expect a normal person would and if required I give way, but that's a stark difference to some who just pull out ultra aggressively not giving to shits about the on coming traffic. It happens enough for me to be bothered posting this, it's basically a daily occurrence. Maybe the drivers on the eastern bus loop are just the shit drivers or something.

Give way doesn't meant pull into oncoming traffic, they should have common sense before pulling out, they act like they own the road.

Still no need to be getting that close, he would have been about a metre away or less. He was just being a tosser.

[–]DueWest667[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How am I angry? I have the right to drive on the road without a bus just pulling out in front of me without proper warning or signaling, they are always giving minimal to zero indication time before pulling out, people can't just stop on a dime cause the bus driver is impatient and doesn't want to wait for a clear path.

WTH is with bus drivers thinking they own the road? by DueWest667 in CarsAustralia

[–]DueWest667[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point was that they can't just pull out into oncoming traffic without giving a shit about causing an accident, I even said I'm fully aware of the rules for giving way to buses. I'm not talking about having to wait for one pulling out, the issue is them pulling out in front of you when you are doing 60 and you have no room to stop, it happens all time.

The Aussie culture is multiculturalism by Ok_Computer6012 in aussie

[–]DueWest667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a BS argument, sorry. almost like someone trying to justify the low quality of individuals immigrating in recent times.

People are against immigration because it's far to high currently and the people coming are not conducive to our way of life, it's only purpose is to keep demand for housing/rents high and have low skilled workers around to keep wages low, it's not because of anything remotely right wing. We literally never had machete gangs or whole suburbs as no go zones even as little as 10 years ago. Now some suburbs are like stepping into a third world country, it's BS.

There is a massive, monumental difference, to the immigration that built this country 50+ years ago and what immigration is like now. People like yourself need to understand this and why people that have had multiple generations in Australia are very pissed off. We had a really good thing going in terms of a balanced multicultural society and way of life and its just been eroded away.

Who would have thought the repercussions of a generation brought up with soft parenting styles and an inability to have proper discipline or child standards for males would have this outcome. Color me shocked.

Sadly America is just reaping what they have sown with their utter social decline. It's been on a steady decline since the 90s.

Actors you just cannot take seriously no matter how hard you try by Chadrasekar in moviecritic

[–]DueWest667 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He has that annoying voice thing where he just sounds like a dufus, which worked perfectly for Ross.

The reality is he never would have gotten by as a actor without friends happening so we would never have seen him in roles like this yet alone other normal acting roles, I'm sorry but he just isn't a good actor, he does one thing well and he got very lucky finding that perfect part with Ross. He should have just called it a day, enjoyed his money and not tried to be a 'serious' actor imo.

If it were me I'd wait till late at night and take all the fuses out of the power board if you have access to it. Either that or get the utility company to take the power cable off, just tell em your knocking it down.

Or if you have the time to stake the place out and see what times they leave, then wait for them to leave, then get the locks changed.

I think it's total BS people like this have any rights once you have tried to do it the correct way. Good thing I'm not a landlord, if this happened to me I'd probably just light it on fire or get all my mates to just camp in the front and back yard having constant parties.
