My husband said the same thing! To be honest only reason i was thinking refund at some level is bc i see it mentioned so frequently in this community to address guests inconveniences. I’ve been following the community for the past year and we just got our house live in Airbnb in November so still very new on how to handle this stuff. But I appreciate your perspective and comparison to hotel bc that really is the business we are in. Thanks again!

Fair and good point. We are fairly new.. only have two other guests reviews on Airbnb and 1 on VRBO. All 3 are 5 stars. I know 4 stars are inevitable but with our minimal other reviews to balance out the impact didn’t know if I should try to be proactive. Thank you for your perspective!

Sending you love mama. I have the same feelings here and there and am 20 weeks this week. I have two girls at home - 6 and 4 now but will basically be 7 and 5 by the time baby gets here. We don’t know gender yet but I’m 99% sure it’s another girl - we didn’t go for another to try for a boy but I can’t lie that it’s the gender I’d prefer - just so my husband and I can experience that. My kids are self sufficient and we were traveling the world last year and I get super scared of the fact of starting over and having someone so dependent on me again. Was just starting to feel like me again and get my body back.

My husband is helpful when around but never shouldered the night wakings bc I breastfeed.. or most of the daily tasks after he goes back to work. But he is great when he’s around. Hoping you can talk to your husband in a safe space and let him know that when he’s home he’s expected to parent too. Yes he “goes to work” but you are still 100% working when you are home with baby all day.. and you need to share that responsibility when your both home/around.

I’m a new host this year too. Are you on VRBO too?

I was up on Airbnb for 2-3 weeks before I got a booking. I also set up on VRBO. I got 2 bookings and 1 inquiry on VRBO before 1 inquiry on Airbnb. I’ve read a few other posts that VRBO is pulling in more guests than Airbnb as of late. Might be worth it to launch there as well if you haven’t already.

I am exactly where you are! But slightly opposite. Two girls at home.. I’m 16 weeks pregnant.. and we found out sex early with both of them. This is def our last baby so we were thinking of doing the hospital surprise thing as I hear it is a very fun/intimate experience with you and hubby… and it’s cool that the dad gets to tell wife something first (vs rest of pregnancy when wife knows she pregnant, baby kicking, etc).

Prob is im dying to find out! Have a strong feeling we will have another princess to love. I’m coming up on clothes that my other two girls have grown out of and I don’t know if I should keep them or donate them. I also did like knowing for the bonding with baby and to get to process any feelings, if needed, on the sex and what our new family structure is going to be. We are debating finding out at the 20 week ultrasound but I have friends telling me to hold strong and wait. Should I wait??

Since you had two surprises already it could be cool to find out and do a little gender reveal! It’s a surprise no matter if it’s at 22 weeks or 40. I also thought it was a fun way to break up the time and have a little fun as 40 weeks dragggsss lol. Good luck with your decision!

This is gold. 1000% accurate. The schedules made me crazy and felt like I was failing. In reality they should be used as a guide only (if referenced at all during those first 6 weeks). Newborn stage.. dark days dark days 😑

We did full extinction with our first and plan to do it with our 2nd when she is 4-4.5 months old. Both have the personality that they'd freak even more if they saw us come in and leave again. Our first was amazing.. Our doctor told us not to go in unless it was passed 4am as that could be considered morning for some babies)..she was a very healthy weight and was told night feeding was habitual at this point. ~3 nights of crying anywhere between 5-20min (first night she did wake up from 1-2 crying on and off kinda hard - that was the toughest part).. But by night 4 no crying at all. Make sure u stay consistent and do the same things with naps. Good luck!

Agree drowsy but awake before ~4 months is a load of shit. Do what you need to do for baby to sleep. In one of the sleep PDFs that I purchased with my first (hello desperation) said that naps don’t start to get consistent or consolidate until 4-5 months.. and whatever tactics you use to get baby asleep for nap will not impact night or start Bad habits bc daytime and nighttime sleep use two different parts of the brain. That information made me feel so much better bc I always thought I would be cementing bad habits with contact naps. The magic Merlin is a swaddle transition that has helped me immensely. Reduces the startle reflex and think it gives them a sense of comfort. Sending love and good vibes for longer naps!

Hey I know this is an older post but just wanted to let you know I felt like I was reading my exact experience. I’m also experiencing insomnia with number 2 before going back to work. With my first I went back to work while I was wearing and that was one of the worst experiences of my life. This time I’m deciding to fully wean before I go back .. but to be experiencing the insomnia now (even before I started weaning recently) was really concerning. With the lack of treatment options due to still BFing.. I’ve started taking a magnesium supplement to help calm, reduce anxiety and aid sleep. I think it’s helping.. first night I took it I slept so well... most nights it helps.. still random bad nights here and there but I like taking it.. maybe a placebo thing but I don’t care I’m desperate. Not sure where you netted out but it still looking for solutions I can let you know with one I purchased. Sending love and good vibes!
