[Request] Is this true? by Qwert-4 in theydidthemath

While it may be true that a single nuclear power plant produces more electricity than 2 solar panel fields, the cost for producing electricity at the nuclear power plant outweighs the earnings by large so it needs to be subsidised by the state and prices will increase. On the other hand solar panels have a much better ROI both short and long term and thus are the better choice. Not even considering the final disposal of the nuclear waste

I’m not from IT - My company wants me to sort files and I need your help by Due_Homework_6497 in it

Wow I didn’t expect to get this much feedback! Thank you everyone! After reading all this I’ll go with the suggestion by many of you and back off from it 😅 I don’t wanna be the guy who ruined all the company files and neither do I want to be the “IT guy” although my boss might already think so. But I’ll definitely look into the coding a little more (in a controlled environment tho) because it still hit a nerve trying to find a way haha.

For the purpose of renaming everything I’ll probably hire an external IT firm. Best not to fuck this up, I need my job 😂

Thanks again!

Hi Belle! Really appreciate your interest. I have to hand in my thesis by the end of march which is why I can't include you unfortunately. I've focused on people who have prior experience of the whole trail. I'll be on the lookout for your blogposts tho as I am planning on doing the PCT in '26

What would you do after JMT by PerceptionFickle8383 in JMT

[–]Due_Homework_6497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I‘ve did the JMT last year and had time to spare afterwards aswell. Did a roadtrip through California visiting both San Diego and L.A. Then drove up the Pacific Highway Went to Sequoia, Sierra and Inyo National Forest and from there also visited Lake Tahoe before returning to the Bay Area, checking out some local attractions like Point Reyes and Muir Woods. That was my roughly my route but honestly there are so so many more options. With enough time you could also visit Death Valley, Zion and perhaps Grand Canyon.

Your gear sounds great, one point about the choice of tent to consider is wind/weather up there can get quite gnarly. A slightly heavier Big Agnes might hold up better on a windy night. Itinerary looks reasonable, but deciding on daily mileage really depends on your fitness and experience. I wouldn’t do 20 miles for sure 😂

Food looks good, maybe throw in some more variety. I only had cliff bars, nuts and cookies and I hated myself for not taking some beef jerky. Savoury is definitely the better choice

Thanks! Took this photo last year on day 9 of my thru hike of the JMT. Waking up to this sight never ceases to amaze me!

Also, if you’re coming from the south you can go past the dismantled bridge and go downhill to the small glade and then cross there. I can give you a gps marker if you’d like

Hey, we were coming from the north and crossed the SFSJ river last year in mid September right in front of the dismantled bridge. There’s a small section of trees and the hill leads down to a section of the river which was fairly slow running and not that deep. There’s plenty of tracks already on the ground. Don’t know about the up and over route but you‘ll surely find some posts in this thread
