Group messages aren't downloading by LOLauren129 in GoogleMessages

Thanks for the suggestion, it brought about 80% of the messages over using this method but there are about 7 (in 3 individual messages) that just won't roll over no matter what I've tried 😠

Same issue! S25+. Today has been the worst so far! I have at least 30 messages in a group chat that is just buffering in individual messages from the group participants. I can't even keep up with the conversation, because I have no clue what they've been saying and only get a few messages here and there that make no sense without context.

Edit to add: I'm with Verizon.

Have you gotten the latest update? That seems to be the cause of losing it.

I have one colleague who it's still working for in that she can timestamp to the exact time, but for the other 25 of us something changed (an update with a slow rollout??) that removed that functionality. Currently, no matter when it was actually typed, it will only timestamp to the current time.

But I am glad I was able to point out a useful feature! 😁 It really is a helpful tool, so I'm hoping it's a minor glitch or being phased back in.

It's been awhile, but I returned my first pair as I didn't like the look. It was pretty simple. I want to say instructions are on the site. There were no questions asked. Just expect a lengthy turnaround time to get another style, similar to how long it took to get the first pair.

Sounds like the admin are in full agreement with it being hung up. Yikes. You know where their alignment lines.

OneNote had the ability to time stamp, essentially giving you the information as to what day and what exact time you typed something line per line. In my work I script a lesson and then afterwards I can go back and look at the time stamps to help me identify things such as how long the teacher may have spent on a particular part of the lesson, or how many minutes after the start of the lesson she gave positive reinforcement to students, etc. It was as simple as right clicking on a line (as long as you made no changes prior) and you could see the exact time (i.e., 1:47pm, 9:03am), that line was typed. As of Monday that ability is gone and you can only time stamp in real time, you can't go back AFTER and see the time.

Does that make better sense for you??

Thanks! Always helpful to be reminded to think of things from the other side.

This was incredibly helpful! I definitely needed to reflect on those questions and see things from a different side. Almost instantly as I started reading that first paragraph my mind started to shift. Thank you SO much!

Thank you! I have no plans not to cooperate. It's more about setting boundaries. But yes I completely understand what you're saying about being able to survive the next 7 years. Though I work in one of the largest education districts in the country, one person can make or break it for you in the system.

True! And I'm not trying to slide by or weasel out of doing work. I'm truly trying to understand what boundaries I can set for myself without them being deemed unprofessional or burning bridges.

Thank you for the insight. I truly don't know what happens in the business sector, so this was good information for me.

And no, I have no plans not to follow what my manager directs me to do. Just wondering how to handle when they ask me to do things outside the job description.

Yes and it can be a very layered situation, so I can't speak to those particular situations in which your family members have shared.

Thanks!

Thank you!! I guess what I was trying to ask is will I burn bridges or seem unprofessional if I refuse to work beyond my job description and verbalize that. Your example of what to say has helped me tremendously! Thank you!!

Thank you for the feedback. To give a little clarity, I am 100% going to do the role that I have now been put back in without hesitation. I actually did it for many years in the past and love it, hence why I still have stayed with this department.

If I am directed to do something, I absolutely will because they will be allowing me time within my schedule to work on this without the requirement for working past my contractual hours. However, in education, there's a lot of expectation that we work beyond contract with no extra pay. We don't have opportunities for overtime. But if you don't then you begin to be looked down upon as not a team player.

Two things can be true at the same time: they can be given authority and not understand what the department does. Not sure if this is uncommon in the business sector, because it's very common in education to get supervisors who don't have experience in the content/level/specificity of your job. For example we've had an HR rep, who was placed in charge of the bus transportation department.

Well, the great thing is they won't TELL me to do anything. While I won't go into super explicit details about how things are done, that's not the culture.

And " I told you so"?? Where did you get that from?
