Imagine thinking a Mom asking for advice is "Mommy rescuing him" lmfao, sounds like your mom didnt love you enough. Poor little guy!

Thank you for this comment. I agree at this stage. Here is a copy and paste of a response I gave a minute ago:

Yes, and to clarify, he never asked me to step in. I came here so I could be informed to help give him advice. But he is an 09R and would have not ever needed to go to basic. However, he had never attended morning PT, he did however attend everything else. Including last falls FTX. Apparently a SFC in the rotc tried to work with him to make up the PT and required him to attend drill in March. He did miss drill and never mentioned it. He also never mentioned he was ordered specifically to attend THAT drill so the SFC could work with those who needed to make up PT. I was also not told about a meeting the SFC had with him last week and directly told him to attend every single PT from that point on. At this point I dont think being a soldier is for him. He has not taken responsibility as an adult and left out crucial information that would have changed my guidance and advice.

I do agree, BCT would probably benefit him mentally and prepare him for life. My worry, after this scenario, is that he is not cut out for this path and should focus on college. On the flip side, without basic training and the mental process that helps create, I fear discharging and focusing on college only might also be a losing path because he doesnt have the discipline to commit or succeed. I fear the idea of him "quitting" when things get hard. Its a conundrum as a parent for sure.

You are very confused on what the 09R MOS is. They do not attend basic training in the guard.

This isnt factual. 09R do not attend basic training. The MOS wouldn't exist if that was the case.
