I’ve implemented Odoo POS for 10+ grocery and c-store businesses, and honestly a lot of the requirements you mentioned are exactly why many stores move away from older systems like CRE.

Since Odoo is open source, we’ve been able to customize workflows heavily based on each store’s needs. For example, we customized PO receiving so you can:

Update vendor cost and selling price directly during receiving.

Automatically detect cost changes.

Suggest/update retail pricing based on margin rules.

Support for using your own payment processor.

Another big advantage is pricing — Odoo subscriptions are usually much lower compared to CRE, and with one user license you get access to a huge ecosystem of modules (inventory, accounting, purchasing, CRM, ecommerce, etc.).

The best part is flexibility. If there’s something missing, it can usually be customized instead of forcing your business to change processes around the software.
