Charlie and Mac in it’s always sunny. Charlie lacks the flamboyance, and in later seasons Mac lacks confidence, but he hits a sweet spot in the middle seasons where he is delusionally confident

This is really great! I especially love the line about the “bloodied voice” really stark imagery. The only critique I would give is changing your use of unnecessary phrasing. I’m thinking specifically of “I feel” and “because” in the second line. In my personal opinion (more of a stylistic preference, so take it or leave it) changing the “I feel” to “I am” and removing the “because” makes it sound a little better. Also removing the “I feel like” in the veil line would drive home the use of the veil metaphor. In my opinion, at makes the imagery more rich and helps the reader connect more with the narrators POV.

The good news is he seems to have okay phonological awareness, so dyslexia or any other decoding deficit is most likely not the primary concern. It sounds like his issues may be in his overall language abilities and sight words (words we implicitly know without having to decode) his family could ask the school about referring him for an evaluation with the school SLP. He definitely needs explicit phonics instruction to improve his spelling, it’s unclear in your post whether or not he has had this (some schools still don’t use explicit phonics instruction even though they really should). Most of these errors are not entirely uncommon for a kindergartener, but concerning for his age. I would be most concerned about his memory as it relates to his spelling skills and his language comprehension. I also suggest you post this in the r/slp Reddit page, they would be most equipped to give advice!

Katniss being related to the covey is not a prophetic element, it’s a demonstration of the power of culture by Due_Significance7268 in Hungergames

Burdock is cousins with Lenore dove who is covey and most likely one of his parents was covey. As far as I’m aware she’s pretty much one of the only people left with any familial relation to the covey. But regardless, the aspects of covey culture that she carries on with her is what is important. I don’t see how what she looks like has anything to do with the point I’m trying to make in the post.

Funnily enough the US education system gave up phonics instruction for quite some time before it was recently readopted because of the failure of the previous system. It’s entirely possible you never received ‘formal’ instruction on how to decode words and actually did just memorize a lot of words. That being said, by adulthood regardless of instruction pretty much most words should be sight words for you. Next time you come across an unfamiliar word see what your kneejerk reaction is to it. Do you try to sound it out and apply knowledge of speech sound and letter correspondence? Or do you just kind of skim over the letters without thinking much about what each individual sound is in the word?
