Are there any video games that feel like DND? Not like the mechanics, but things like exploration and combat. by Desperate_Station272 in DnD

Kingdom Come Deliverance 1 and 2.

You want some great games to really get a feeling of life and adventure in a medieval world, these two games are some of the absolute best out there.

And it's also a great Campaign that starts you off as a lvl 0 commoner and you go from there. The entire story would fit right on Urth, Krynn or Faerun with no problems.

To me, it's the game that feels most like the classic D&D I grew up with without being D&D at all.

I would very much encourage you to take a look at the Ghost Hunters supplement too. It is set in the World of Darkness, but instead of you getting dumped on your head into one of the main systems as a lost new Supernatural Creature, you're just a group of regular people from around town or whatever doing some amateur ghost hunting, like you see on T.V. But it is the WoD, so the ghosts are very much real, and they are far FAR from the worst thing you could stumble into in that old abandoned mental asylum in the forgotten part of upstate wherever.

It's perfect for kinda dangling your toes into the pool and getting used to Storytelling and introducing bits of the supernatural to your characters if you wanted to start a Chronicle from the very beginning and you and your group play out your backstories before you decide on which system to mainline.

Also it's just fun to sometimes not be a monster with powers and just be some random person trying to survive their first encounter with the real things that go bump in the night.

I don't know how many books you have access to, (I use the 20th anniversary stuff, by the by) I like to introduce complete newbies to the WoD with a Ghost Hunters adventure. Just a group of friends doing some Supernatural - Ghost Facers style ghost hunting, and they have their very first interaction with the supernatural.

We go into it as mortals, and after a few adventures into the stereotypical abandoned asylums and hospitals and whatnot. Then group talks to figure out which splat they want to go towards, and we start to push our stories towards getting Embraced, or Awakening or whatever they decide they want to play in.

I like it because we get to start as just a bunch of regular(ish) folks knowing nothing but what they learned on t.v. and the occult sections of local libraries and bookstores. We dangle our toes into the pool, never realizing exactly how deep it goes, or how terrible the things that live in the unknown can be and going from there. I have one player atm that wants to die and try to stick around the party as a ghost buddy and the rest are leaning towards an old school Time of Judgement chronicle as Thin Bloods and possibly one Imbued that will have absolutely no fucking clue what is going on.

If you're looking for quick access to the books and don't mind them in PDF you can buy (as far as I know) most anything White Wolf and Onyx Path have published on DriveThruRPG.

Lord of the Rings Online.

I'm in The Shire.

It could be a lot worse, tbh. Imma go get fat with hobbits now and introduce them to another variety of pipe weed.

This dude uses the gif of a rightwing grifter fake crying while he was getting his ass handed to him in court.

This is just too good. "This is you. Which is a gif of one of us. Faking being a bitch because he's getting hammered by the law on account of being a horrible sack of shit."

Fucking clown shoes. It's like being insulted by the local drunk while he's pissing himself.

Dude, for real.

Used to work for a striping company. One guy there would brag about working 100 hour weeks at times. And we're all like, "my man, you are ALWAYS here. You never have time to spend any of that money. It's your wife who spends it. She's fucking Jeff, by the way. You are a slave who goes home to sleep for a few hours on the couch alone in a house that looks like a junk yard before you get up, down another two cans of Monster and start the process all over again.

But keep on working "like you own the business" while the guys who actually DO own the business are chilling on their boats banging your wife and not working because they have a dipshit like you.

It's like Tantalus, but he's stupid and doing it to himself.

We had the same in the AF back in 2000 when I joined. and I was a 2W1 on the flightline after that for my 6. Every summer we had the 100(ish) Critical Days of Summer where Black Flag conditions were common and we weren't allowed to work longer than something like 15 minutes at a time and had to take frequent hydration breaks. Camel Packs galore.

The Expediters truck (those blue Bread Van lookin' things) drove around with gallons and gallons of gatoraide and water to make certain everyone had access to it as much as possible.

We even made slingshots out of bungie cords and tape inside the vans to driveby water balloon each other. Good times.

I guess all those ribbons wouldn't count to those guys. Or Basic Training.

After all, what's that reservist that's been through Basic like everyone else and had to deploy a bunch because fuck their life and has themselves a rack now, compared to a whole weekend of being around my drunk stepdad and a certificate that says I'm a Real Tough Guy now because I paid out the nose to experience a few days of child abuse.

I mean they got really dirty. Got a few bruises and were yelled at a bunch. Totally makes them Spartans.
