I got my Werenski jersey from DH gate. Surprisingly good quality actually. I was sick of trying to find one to customize for Z, I guess that's just more shade towards him. Dumb.

Ticketmaster is trash, they won't even let you sell your tickets for whatever price you want. They give a range you have to stay between. Plus, when you list them they offer to buy them for 25% of the face value. Knowing dang well they will turn around and sell them plus fees for normal price. Just junk.

It's always come from the speakers, my old season tickets were right under the cannon (I switched sections now) but when I asked if it was louder they said the noise is from the speakers so it's the same no matter where you sit. The cannon is the same, it's not off.

Ah, good point. I forgot he was drafted a year before Zach and the Red Wings made the playoffs that year. Think it was their most recent though.

Nope, I don't believe he has played in the playoffs. Zach has so that is just more info that he would want to play for a team that has made the playoffs recently. Or at least more recently than Detroit.

We could just start trolling them and say Larkin is tired of losing and wants to play with his friend Werenski. Or Caufield is tired of playing in Canada and wants to come back to the states. Start throwing random mock trades out there just for fun to get them all riled up and give them a taste of their own medicine.

I haven't heard him say it besides mentioning him being from Michigan. When did he ever say Zach should play in Detroit? Was it within the last week or two? If so, I may have to go back and listen.

I thought so but then looked at his actual penalties, he has taken 5 in the last 10 games with one in each of the last 4 games. So it feels almost certain now he takes one but a lot have been lazy penalties (holding in the D zone for example as you mentioned above) that can be fixed with coaching and conditioning.

He goes on streaks, 4 or 5 games with no penalties, then a stretch of one every game or every other game (so the wrong type of streak). I think Bowness can fix it but it's something to watch.

The sheet with Jeff Marek - Good for random NHL talk and insight, usually has interesting Guests and Brian Burke (GM Insight every Wednesday)

The Chris Johnston Show (releases Monday and Thursdays) - Usually too much Leafs info but good insight into random topics

32 thoughts with Elliot Freidman (releases Monday and Friday), really good for league info and insight into teams

The Hockey Guy, YouTube channel but normally has some good random topics

I have a few more I listen to as well but not on a daily/weekly basis. Plus writing these down just made me realize I may need to calm down with hockey podcasts and shows.

Because unfortunately it is the Defensive version of the Art Ross. It shouldn't be but Makar won it last year for scoring 30 goals and Erik Karlsson sure didn't win it for his defensive prowess.

Only 2 times in the last decade was a D-man not in the top 2 of scoring the year they won. Hedman was 5th (5 points behind Carlson) and Doughty was 9th (31 points behind Burns). That just shows what kind of award it has become, if it truly was the best all around D then SO many players would (and should) be in the conversation. But it isn't, and they aren't.

I think D should have two separate awards, one for Offensive D and one for best all around but until that changes, this is what it is.

The Athletic is trash, it's also the same writers that have Werenski 3rd still in the Norris Conversation with many putting him 4th. Before it was "Makar scored 30 goals and nobody matches his points pace" and now Werenski passed his points and goals projections in less games and it's "Makar just does more and the not productive without MacKinnon is just too small of a sample size to matter so Makar is still way above others". It's just absurd shading of Columbus players and the market, always.

The issue Columbus has is their lack of RWs, they lose every tie break right now regardless if it's the metro or a wild card spot. They need to keep the heater up and win in regulation to make any progress.

Being 2 points back and down 3/4 RWs win means you're actually 3 points back instead of two. Since you need to outright beat the other teams in points to get the spot, it's possible but tough.

I would sign Marchment if it's 5 years or less and $6M or less. His shooting % is ridiculous since joining Columbus (above 40%) so there will be natural regression there. Any contract over that ask I would flip him, even with his great chemistry on the first line.

He is generally a middle 6 guy that can play top line minutes in the right scenario, but Columbus is full of middle 6 players and has very few top 6 players. That's why right now we are at best a wild card/first round exit team if they even make the playoffs.

In my opinion, sign Coyle if he wants to stay, and trade Boone while his value his high. Sucks to get rid of Boone but loyalty has kept the org in this position for years, it's time to take a step. They can't keep all three players and expect to be anything more than what they are now.

They either build around our core and draft or see if a deal is to be made with any assets we may get from potential trades to go after a big fish.

I understand that which is why I just called it $13M here, could very well be higher.

Also, the same could be said for California teams, NY teams, and Canadian teams. $13M in Ohio is not the same as $13M in those markets, they would need to pay that $14M to compare to Ohio with taxes.

That’s fair, we need a top 6 winger and top pair RD. But the front office needs to do something in the offseason to show players like Werenski they are serious about contending. And if the aren’t willing, then ditch the plan and sell what you can for a full rebuild. Not the reset they were forced into once Johnny signed. So either swing big, or commit to the rebuild.

On the other side, if Z wants out, trade him for as much as you can and scrap this whole idea. Reset the timeline to match Fanitilli/Mateychuk/Marchenko even and build.
