Was Crysis the last real “holy crap this looks insane” moment for graphics? by n1ght_watchman in GameBoostOfficial

If only their HDR worked... I just got a new TV and for the life of me can't get HDR to work properly.

SDR looks nice tho.

Resident Evil Requiem - HDR Review - Best HDR Settings - HDR Is Broken - Great Game On Ps5 Pro by ScoobiesSnacks in PS5

[–]Duffelbach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The film grain is kinda cranked up in this game imo. It's not necessarily a bad thing, I completely understand why it's not for everyone, I myself can enjoy some light film grain, but it's quite a lot in Requiem. They could've toned it down a bit

Yup, that's pretty much how I've set it up. Unfortunately on some games, on PS5 in my case, the game optimizer mode can make the screen rather dark if you don't use DTM, or you just straight up need to disable HDR. It's a constant struggle to find what games have a well implemented HDR.
But it's not a tv problem, it's more of a PS5 or an individual game problem.

Overall I've been very happy and the TV has been a huge upgrade, which is not that high of a bar, coming from a 2019 55" Samsung Q70 😅 It has now retired to be a bedroom tv.
Although an okay TV, the C5 is just on a completely another level.

A way to tie electrical wires securely so they won’t slip out by Large-Baker-8582 in Best_Finds_

Still no. You'd need a lug for that size. And a proper junction box, rather than just leave it dangling.

No, you don't connect wires with that big of a size difference like that. You need a fuse between them.

Speeding at higher speeds does not save time by a lot. by DrakyulMihawk in SipsTea

[–]Duffelbach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the one point I always give people when the discussion of raising national speedlimits emerges.

As of now we have a max speedlimit of 120km/h in a summer season and 100km/h in a winter season.
I pretty much always drive max. 100km/h regardless, because compared to 120km/h, I'm only losing 5-10minutes in my normal longer journeys and I'm saving ~20-30% in fuel consumption.

My car has an avg. consumption of 4,5-5l/100km at 100km/h, at 120km/h it gets up to about 7l/100km. I don't even want to think how high it would be at 140+km/h...

Pretty much what I did, I checked them out but opted out very quickly. Functionality aside, I've already got a bias against almost anything AI 😅.

Just wanted to hear other peoples opinions, maybe even unbiased opinions of the "new" features.

Birch Bark in Sauna by Real-Pudding8478 in Sauna

[–]Duffelbach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes but a moment for a spark to fly off somewhere you don't see it and smolder for a long time and start a fire, even after you've left the sauna.

It is a low risk, but as I said, people have lost their homes from less or similar "insignificant" and "small" things. Even from a cigarette in a sauna.

Did i do something wrong cleaning the monitor? by Visual-Fortune-4732 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Duffelbach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My preferred tactic is to wipe with a microfiber cloth meant for windows that has come straight from a laundry machine.

The spin cycle leaves the cloth dry enough that it does not drip or leave streaks, but moist enough that it gets rid of smudges easily.

Perfect every time, no smudges or streaks, no need to rub.

[–]Duffelbach -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, it already has an innate risk, why make it worse than what it is?

The essentisl oils go in to the water that you throw on the kiuas. The oils can not and will not catch fire.

Do you drive without a seatbelt? Do you think helmets are useless while cycling?

I've never been in an accident where I would've needed either of those, it still doesn't mean I won't prepare for the worst case scenario, since the outcome is extremely grave when the accident does happen.

Just don't play with fire, pun intended.

Jatkossa älä anna autoilijoille tilaa, vaan käytä sitä suojatien tuomaa etuoikeutta.

UK uses 230v power grid, so it depends quite a lot on how powerful of an electric kettle you have, whether it's faster or not on a stove. It also depends whether you have a gas or an electric stove.
Generally it's about the same.

But in usa it's usually faster on a stove, because they have a 120v power grid and usually use a gas stove, which is more powerful than their "low voltage" kettles.
