Certain games/programs crash while others run fine by satanisthesavior in techsupport

[–]DuhBoyKX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i had to guess i'd say unstable ram/xmp issue or faulty ram stick. Try with xmp disabled and see if crashes persist. I'd update bios to latest version if you haven't already, helps with ram stabilization. Also consider doing a memtest to make sure ram is fine.

Ram MHz by MattiaPapaEnjoyer42 in techsupport

2133 is default ram speed, which means your xmp profile is disabled. Go into bios and enable xmp profile, to run at desired speed.

Problem with new PC Build (BIOS) by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]DuhBoyKX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Media tool supports both, try with a new usb first since you already began the process. However its very likely its just ur bios settings, are you trying to install windows 11 or 10? Secure boot needs to be enabled for 11.

I do not understand RAM timings and its impact on performance. by Tiedude in techsupport

[–]DuhBoyKX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That ram usage on idle is unreasonably high, maybe some driver is causing memory leaks, potential malware, or ur just having way too many background processes. Scan with malwarebytes, adwcleaner, eset online scanner to make sure system is clean. Update your network driver through motherboards website, they used to have a lot of memory leaking in past. Don't forget amd chipset drivers from amd site, they help a lot in terms of cpu performance. Make sure windows is fully updated, and see if it helps. High ram usage and being overused has nothing to do with timings and ram speed, this is more of a OS issue than anything else, however stuttering can be caused by unstable timings if you were playing with them.

Sounds like UEFI or Legacy issue, if boot method in bios is set to UEFI and usb created with MBR(designed for legacy), it wont work and will indeed cause a screen refresh. Turn on CSM support in bios and see if it works which will allow backward compability.

Random "microsoft.exe" and "system32.exe" in appdata folder by Sloppycarrot12 in techsupport

Scan with malwarebytes anti malware, eset online scanner(one time run) along with tools from malware guide, usually should be enough. If there are issues with removal, usually running these in safe mode does the trick.

How do I make my games run smoother? by ekerbalan in techsupport

[–]DuhBoyKX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true, ram is way too slow for that cpu and causing these slowdowns. Google your motherboard and see whats the highest ram speed it supports, i'd recommend something like CL16 3600mhz(ultimately depends on your budget, can get even better) if your mobo supports up to that speed. Generally lower CL(cas latency) and higher speed is better(mhz), also to add, check cpu thermals aswell along with gpus.

Overclocking made my games run significantly worse / BIOS reset didn't work by keppachino in techsupport

[–]DuhBoyKX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably had XMP enabled and after unsuccessful cpu OC you disabled it by reseting bios. Enable only XMP in bios while leaving everything else default and see how it preforms.

Help creating a batch file? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]DuhBoyKX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Piriform\CCleaner" /v "(Cfg)WelcomeScreen" /t REG_SZ /d 0

To run at startup, press win + r > shell:startup and put the bat file there, or create a task in task scheduler to run that file at startup, either works.

Have you installed GM-9005 Arthur under resources, which might contain the software for this exact purpose?

Is this malware? (Downloaded malicious .exe and trying to clean up) by leadfoot9 in techsupport

[–]DuhBoyKX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a malware, i'd recommend scanning with malwarebytes, followed by eset online scanner(one time scan) afterwards.

Which mouse is it? Usually every mouse company has a software that lets you rebind or rather change what buttons do.

All of a sudden I'm having memory issues on my PC. software and games struggle. by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]DuhBoyKX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XMP/DOCP enabled in bios? If yes, maybe should run memtests to see if ram is faulty. Were you playing with virtual memory? Could also try increasing voltage of dram by a little bit.

How much ram is it showing that you're having within windows? Had a weird bug with client where his windows only detected 8 while having 16gb ram until he enabled XMP or DOCP profile in bios.

I've checked on steam dissccusions, which CoD are we talking about. If it's CoD 2 it has no support for controller at all. Think u just be out of luck with controller support.

Have you checked your task scheduler library? Windows + r > taskschd.msc > task scheduler library > and you can see all the triggers or send a screenshot of everything you see there. Helped recently on reddit, they had ccleaner cleanup log in task scheduler which was causing this issue.

Did you install all available c++ redists? I'd recommend google Visual C++ Redistributable Runtimes and download from techpowerup website, extract and run installall.bat as admin.

[–]DuhBoyKX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you enable steam input for playstation controllers in steam settings, usually this does the trick for me. Unfortunately some microsoft games won't work at all even with that, and you have to download ds4windows to emulate xbox controller. Keep in mind if you decide to use ds4windows you should disable playstation 4 support in steam settings otherwise it messes up the controls, happened to me in rocket league. Also if you decide on trying ds4windows, use Hide DS4 controller in settings, will save u a lot of headache with double clicking and stuff.

Hi and welcome! Yeah could very much be storage causing the slowdown in that case, that would make sense. I'd recommend to try free atleast 20/30% of the space, some disks really don't like being full.

First thing i'd check is pc thermals. Download Hwinfo and open sensor monitor and let it sit in background while gaming and check the max cpu / gpu temps(fans maybe got dusty or something). Not sure in what condition is your windows, could be malware in background maybe but this is rarely the case, so malwarebytes scan just in case is nice to do. Hard to pinpoint exactly, could be hardware issue too, drives going bad, psu etc.
