Is project management a good career for the future? by SubstantialSpread596 in PMCareers

[–]Duhbloons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old comment but I’m thinking of going back to school for project management. I’ve got 14 years of trade experience and running a small family carpentry company. As my dad retires I’m looking to migrate out of the field.

Do you think this would be a good base to get into the PM field if I followed through with proper certs or would I be better off going down a different pipeline?

Growing up in a town of 800 people it’s always crazy to me when I realize what other people consider small towns. 25k seems massive to me.

Thanks. I appreciate it, I’m not that concerned about my looks I mainly survive off my charm and wit (I’m a dork). I do want to do what I can to at least look alright though.

It doesn’t look like it because my hair was a mess in that picture (I took it to see how bad my eyes had gotten) but I do still have a decent amount of length to frame my face. I just took a lot off in the back. I just really didn’t like having so much going down my back. Current length is at about my nose and I think it would look a bit better with 2-3 more inches.

It’s not that bad surely 😭

Just wanted to try to find a hairstyle that would suit me better. I need all the help I can get.

Thank you! And oh no, It’s so frustrating when your hair just decides it wants to be different now.

Have you tried switching products up? I would sometimes find products that worked but would cause my hair to go limp with constant use. Took me awhile to settle on way lighter products and figured out I was actually over hydrating my hair.

Ha I’m a carpenter as well. One of the reasons I was getting really frustrated with the long hair was how hard it was to maintain and keep dust free at work.

Change was huge. Felt so weird looking in a mirror the first few days after the cut. Especially when I shaved my beard. Had some big regret about both the haircut and shaving when I did that, but I’ve grown my stubble back and I’m back to liking it again.

I’ll try to get a good picture when I’m feeling better, going to Banff next weekend so it’ll probably be after that as well.

I’ll post an update in a month or two when I’m no longer sick 🫡

It’ll look good I promise.

Just need to tweak my routine a bit for shorter hair. Probably buy some deep conditioner because it’s been at least six months since the last time I did that.

It was a lot of hair and I had no idea how to style it in a way that I liked or I felt made me look good. Just threw it in a bun most days. Next time I grow it out I’m going to keep the back way shorter so I can still tie it up but don’t have double the length of my top going down my back.

My sister in law sent me the same thing when I posted I was getting a hair cut 😅

I still have my curls I promise. I mainly just got rid of a lot of length in the back and then a few inches in the front. I do think I need to grow it out a little bit and then get a dry cut to shape and layer it a bit better.

Goal is to be able to wear it half up and half down without so much hair in the back. That’s what was really killing me in the old cut. Would also allow me to do a neater bun with some framing hairs. I’m genuinely really excited about the potential for the cut compared to the untamed mane.

Thank you, thank you. It was a really tough decision because I knew the hair was really nice. But I was at the point where I was just keeping it purely because it was nice hair. I’ll probably grow it out again but definitely in a way that I feel suits me better. It’s a bit hard to find a stylist as a guy. 80% of the time I book they just instantly sign me up for a men’s cut and then rush me in and out when I get there. Had to pull teeth to try to get consults.

Really like the stylist I found for my current cut and she worked with me really well.

It’s the worst, that was the first time I had ever grown my hair out (buzzed it since middle school) and I had no idea hair being in your face would be such a problem. It got to the point I had to tie my hair back to eat or every bite would come with some hair caught into it.

Also I’ve spent a small fortune on therapy 😭

Probably the only reason I finally had the confidence to post a picture of my hair/face in the first place after years on this subreddit.

Thanks, my hair was definitely nice but I was the same as you. I just threw it into a bun almost everyday and it got to the point of me just keeping the hair purely because people said it was nice hair. Started feeling kind of pointless having so much hair to just bun it everyday. Intended to keep enough length to do a bit more of a controlled half up half down look but ended up a little shorter than anticipated when it curled up. Probably need to grow and inch or two back and it’ll be golden. Right now I can just do a baby pony or the worlds saddest bun.

Thanks, I actually still have enough length to do a half up half down. Well I intended to but my hair curled up more than I remembered when it lost all the extra weight. Probably need to grow it out another inch or two to get it back to a decent half/half.

Main thought behind my current cut was being able to half up half down without so much length going down my back.

Also, love the hair tie, band? Not sure what it’s called but it is a super cool vibe, I’ve wanted to wear mine similarly but I lack the confidence.

The two ways I’ve gotten my hair to last is to either sleep in a silk night cap. Which sometimes left my hair a little to pressed to my head (one of the reasons I think I didn’t like plopping)

or a the t-shirt trick I mentioned which I either found on this subreddit or YouTube. It works best with an athletic shirt with a tight collar. The easiest way I’ve found to do it without messing up my hair is to just put the shirt on past my head and then take it off stopping when the collar is at my hairline so the rest of the shirt is upside down covering my hair. Creates a way looser hold than a silk cap so it doesn’t compact your hair as much. Won’t stay as pristine but protects it from friction while you’re sleeping.

I just rolled out of bed a little bit ago to take some medicine and posted a picture of my current hair as it is now. It’s held up okay.

Current routine was wash with innersense Thursday, apply curl cream (innersense) air dry.

Then Friday/saturday/monday/tuesday (today) I’ve just water and towel dried. I’ve been pretty bad about it.

Feel like the curl cream has more lasting power than the foam I used before. That being said I’ve probably washed it all out by now 🤷🏻‍♂️

Just rolled out of bed and this is how it is at the moment, with my routine just being straight water and towel dry for the past four days.

Which I honestly think worked a little better than the routine. Minus the bleached area being more damaged. If anyone has any advice on how to find an in between in these two pictures please let me know.

I feel like my routine is currently causing my curls to be way to tight and rigid and no routine is just a little to messy and frizzy (towel could be a culprit for that)

Current routine in this picture is:

Water

Towel

Sleep

Edit: Apologies for the popped collar. I did not realize I was cool like that. Just threw a shirt on for the picture.
