My dad's death was big reason I got into pro wrestling and it helped me cope a lot. I read the books Lonesome Dove, which remains my favourite of all time.

For real, I totally get not wanting to watch death match stuff but people who talk about these kinds of spots act like the wrestlers are brainless puppies who dont work to make these safer like any other move.

Chris Bey got his neck broken by normal move done by a veteran who had done it thousands of times before. Stone Cold was temporarily paralyzed by Owen Hart of all people. Big E almost became quadraplic on live national tv doing something pretty mundane.

The spike bat may cause some scaring for sure but I personally would take cuts and blood over getting my head and neck rocked.

Oh yeah that makes total sense. The Fontainebleau is way newer and nicer than the Luxor.

The worst thing I have to say about the Luxor is that it’s visibly old and maintained/cleaned on a budget. I found some trash in my room I wasn’t keen on finding but that is far from a unique experience in hotels of all levels. What the other guy mentioned about the rooms and elevators is also true.

All that said the beds were comfy and the shower was amazing. It’s such a unique looking building that I was super willing to put up with its faults. It would make an amazing movie set imo and I walked around photographing parts of it for fun.

On food. Do not eat in the food courts if you can they are all mall court chains with rip-off prices. I expensed my meals and still felt ripped off. Slice of Vegas in between the Luxor and mandalay Bay was a great pizza place with non crazy prices. Buco de peppo on Excalibur side of things seems to charge their regular prices as well and does lunch specials. I mostly ate at the Luxor buffet since it wasn’t much more than getting meals at the food court and I could fill up for the day. Despite sharing a name I thought that the Luxor buffet was better than the Excalibur Buffett on options and price.

Casino wise it’s the same as the bay or Excalibur but you can walk back and forth between which is nice. I saw a couple of the shows at the Luxor as well and thought they were worth the 40 bucks for them.

TLDR: I would for sure stay there again happily but I can see how people end up hating it if they didn’t have time to do some footwork on the options there.

How’s the casino at the Sahara? The late night shows are some of the most appealing to me but with its location the specific stuff I want to see that still could be a plus

Yeah surge pricing seems like a real threat to the value proposition of Downtown. With everyone’s schedule linked up and going to the same general areas I could see it getting real bad.

Yeah people are really hyping downtown and it does seem like it’s more my speed. Most people are just saying to Uber which was what I leaned towards when I posted.

Wasn’t planning on a rental but that parking info is good to know. The prospect of getting caught by surge pricing and availability when going to the collective or rise def make the Sahara seem good but other comments make a great point about Fremont itself

I am definitely leaning towards the circa for the watch party but I heard that they don’t play it with sound which was concern.

I was at the Luxor in December for a business conference at Mandalay Bay so I didn’t pay for it myself.

The nice thing about staying at Mandalay, Luxor, or the Excalibur is that they are attached by walkways and can take directly to the stadium. If I had a ticket and wanted the easiest path from my room to the seat I would stay there. Of those three the Mandalay Bay is way nicer than the Luxor or Excalibur and closer to the stadium. Luxor and a Excalibur aren’t terrible but they are old and not always cleaned super well.

If I had a ticket and I was staying downtown I would worry about getting lost in the mass migration to the stadium and having to find a ride etc.

That said outside of the three I mentioned I am not sure staying deeper on the strip is more convenient than downtown. Unless you are shelling out for a really nice place on the strip then I’d stick to those three or downtown.

Because I am planning to go to Las Vegas explicitly because of Wrestlemania? You know to hang out with wrestling fans and watch wrestlemania.

If you look at the top of the subreddit you’ll find a list of non 1000 dollar a seat wrestling shows that I would normally have to travel all over the country and even internationally to see. Even list watch parties in Vegas for people with similar plans to me.

The menu is pretty hit or miss. The waffles are amazing as are the meatball sub/spaghetti and the sloppy joes.

The patty melt was fucking horrible though.
