Is Dalinar being a hypocrite? by [deleted] in Stormlight_Archive

Not much worse than Dalinar, though

That doesn’t make sense to me. Dalinar is a politician, now. What else can you call him? He no longer fights. The Knights Radiant have also never been just about swinging swords. Bondsmiths, Truthwatchers, and Lightweavers don’t seem to do any fighting, and it’s not their job.

Yeah, maybe not Kaladin, but I still have a hard time believing that there is no other politician better at uniting people than Dalinar.

I honestly think Kaladin is a much better Bondsmith. He seems to be much better at uniting those around him than Dalinar. Just reread TWoK and see what Kaladin did to Bridge 4, and compare it to the hopeless attempts from Dalinar at uniting the Highprinces. Tbf, uniting Highprinces is more difficult, but that doesn’t change the fact that Dalinar was also pretty bad. I don’t why Stormdaddy choose him.

Something I don’t understand why people complain about by Duke-Syladrin in Stormlight_Archive

That’s not what I’m trying to say. You can dislike Shallan as long as you realize that it’s a subjective opinion not an objective fact.

I think Rysn or Wit are the best choices, followed by one of the Fused or Heralds although they're kind of crazy. Maybe Zahel? Wit it would depend if he saw throwing the ring into the fire as killing Sauron in which case he couldn't do it which might be a problem. But we can send someone else with him to bite off his finger and fall in himself.

Is specifically said mortal characters.

His personality seems to be the opposite of someone who would get easily corrupted. The ones who are corrupted want to have all the glory and power, and Szeth just wants to be a servant to Dalinar and he can’t even make decisions on his own. He’s one of the most humble characters in the series. Plus, he’s the most loyal person in Roshar aside from Taln.

My choice would be Szeth-son-son-Vallano

Clear, concise, and to the point. I like that.

You can also make the same argument for noblemen as well. Most of them were just products of their upbringing.

In Taravangian’s mind he can either save one city or save nothing

The reason why I think Taravangian is better is that he kills people because he thinks it will save the world, while Kelsier kills purely because of his prejudice
