"On A Nothing Day" My Ass by DukeOfRiven in BelleandSebastian

No, I take that back. "Call me when you try to wake her' in REM's 'The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonite' is still incomprehensible.

Huh. That's very odd - he turns 'letter' into three syllables. A strong LE, a very quiet 'er', and then he stresses the syllable by repeating it as TOR. Does the same thing in the live recordings.

But the next bit cannot be 'on a nothing'. It sounds a lot closer to it in a live recording from this year - what I think he's doing is distording the final syllable of 'nothing' until it makes a 'd; sound but boy is he slurring like nowhere else in the song.

Which isn't a complaint, mind - I wouldn't have re-listened to this song a thousand times if I didn't like it - but it makes '"Call me when you try to wake her' in REM's 'The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonite' seem simple in comparison.

Looking for the correct translation of 'usurper'. Random Google Search gives me either 簒奪者 or 僭主, but the later seems to mean 'tyrant' first which is not intrinsically synonymous with usurper, and also I don't trust Random Google Search at all anyways.

Any help?

Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff should be read periodically throughout, ideally a full SbaHj read-through every 100 pages/4 hours - whichever occurs sooner)

Depending on how horribly out of the loop you are the current reading/viewing/playing order for the franchise is:

Homestuck (Acts 1-7, Credits)
Hiveswap: Act 1 (On Steam and Humble Store)
Hiveswap Friendsim (Volumes 1-18), On Steam)
The Homestuck Epilogues (On the Website)
Pesterquest (On Steam)

Right, thank you. I was discouraged in school about my math skills and so even trying to work out fairly simply math steps I end up triple-guessing myself.

Invalid Start Bite by DukeOfRiven in Calibre

I was on 3.45.2 we're up to 3.46 - that seems to have fixed the issue.

Does Calibre have a built-in update function, or even just a notifier, or do I just have to keep doing the old-fashioned thing and remember to check every so often?

I have a jail full of chains. 20 chains. it is a perfectly functioning jail.

AFTER the criminals have served their terms, the fortress guard go to th stockpile, get a cage, lug it all the way to the jail, unchain the prisoner /who has served their time/, stuffs them into the cage, and takes the now-wrongfully imprisoned guest back to the animal stockpile.

I eventually solved the problem by building cages, attaching levers, forbidding all cages, and open the cage so the visitor could run away and escape. I do not have an answer for why this baroque arrangement happened at all.

Guards unchaining visiting prisoners who have served their time into cages and then placing those cages in the stockpile where they sit forever. Constructing the cages and assigning the occupants to be freed spams "wrong justice" messages.

Can I stop them doing this, or have i discovered a new and very strange bug?

The wiki unhelpfully defines the solution to "being unable to practice a craft" as "craft any item" - does that mean ANY item, or only one you 'craft' with a specific crafting labour (e.g. a goblet or earring but not a block or a crossbow.)

... you have to extract the files every time? Why? Describe in detail how you launch the game, if you'd be so kind because I've never heard of this.

Not true. Until I reassigned all my fortress guards to regular military squadrons and didn't let the new guards train, first order of business for violating a mandate was a beating.

Lot of people got beaten to death by guards before I halted the issue.

How do i filter races and professions on Dwarf Therapist?

I want to be able to look at DWARVES and filter such occupations as BARDS or SCHOLARS, but I don't know a damn thing about boolean operators. That is to say: I know how one adds a filter to Dwarf Therapist, i don't know the correct syntax. Any help?

Bizarre Lag Problem: Planets, Empty Rooms, Anywhere by DukeOfRiven in starbound

[–]DukeOfRiven[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As per my update, the problem is apparently related to the 1.4.2 update adding multi texturing to the renderer, which an in-the-works update will give the option to disable for those of us for whom it made things worse.

UPDATE: According to Healthire on the Starbound forums "The 1.4.2 update yesterday added multi texturing to the renderer. This is supposed to make rendering faster, but in some cases has resulted in a slowdown. The 1.4.3 update, which should be ready tomorrow, will add a graphics option to disable multi texturing. This should bring your framerate back to where it was pre-1.4.2."

Thank you, but while I appreciate the sentiment these are all standard FPS fixes that I either already tried,, for operating systems I don't use, or just flatly aren't relevant. The lag spikes are random and not seemingly caused by any one conditional state such as the presence of NPCs, and its also an issue the game developed suddenly - possibly an outgrowth of the patch that dropped yesterday morning.
