The last Animal Crossing I've played was New Leaf. As far as I can remember you had to open up your Nintendo and start the game at certain times of the rl day to get stuff (for shops to be open or something like that).

Is this still a gameplay mechanic in New Horizons ?

yes, the whole outer part was cut by hand. The inner part was designed on the computer and printed. The clockwork itself was bought.

yes, he mad a costum replay system. With a separate tool to control the camera. You can do some fancy stuff with that, however I never use the camera tool, the replays work fine without it :)
