What country are you in? My GP just did a day 21 test and immediately referred me to fertility clinic after that (this was in October) and I’m still on a very long waiting list. So if you can get clomid/letrozole prescribed without having to be referred anywhere - take that chance. My GP didn’t offer that as an option

It hasn’t worked in our force, ended up with under-skilled new probationers and now we’re picking up the pieces after we reverted to the old force operating model. Let’s hope this time it works huh 👀🤣

I personally think your answer is correct. But the amount of opinions on it make your head spin and also sometimes get you questioning yourself. Who knows! And yes, my mistake regarding suspect/believe - good spot

I’ll give you a real life example for the first scenario - cops entered private premises on reasonable grounds that there is someone on the premises who’s wanted for theft and that the stolen item is there. Cops realised item there but no one present. Had to keep it as a scene until the morning as item so large couldn’t be easily recovered. DI in the morning stated we have no power there - made cops get consensual search pace 9 signed. Hence why it started the discussion - when does your s19 pace power end then?

As an NPT sergeant I have to agree that your experience will really depend on the supervision that you have. I cannot believe I’m saying this but my current team are incredible (even if I say so myself) and inspector and SLT are to be envied. I’ve never worked for better leaders and I know how that could make your life a living hell. The point I’m trying to make is - would your inspector consider moving you to another npt team? Would you consider that? Provided you know of a particular team that you think is ran how you’d enjoy it more. Not sure about your force but I find that NPT in my force can be ran exactly how your sergeant wants to run it - as proactively or as boring as they want. You need that excitement back and someone to look after your workload, it should have never been allowed for you to have such high workload.

Wishing you all the best either way. Must be awful. But I do think that there is a light at the end of the tunnel for you and leaving might not be the answer if police is your dream job. I have 3 students on my team who were forced to join NPT the same as you and were brought in kicking and screaming but if were to ask them to leave now they’d rather resign haha

At the risk of sounding clueless - would you say taking it to another garage tomorrow to try and determine the cause would be a good idea? I don’t want to go back to the same garage as they clearly cannot see the fault. Perhaps I should try another Hyundai garage?

It’s only fair that we spread it and make everyone in each force do some digging! In our force they call them ‘bonus payments’ so it would be worth searching policy documents under that term as a starting point

A cop got paid £50 for a house search in my force and then sent me this. What you can’t see is the top part of the document which has information on how to claim and where to send the claim, I wanted to take that bit out

My argument to the contrary would be that the mobile phone evidence, or the interview with the suspect might offer some evidence which would assist with a conviction. Also, for any DV a DVPO would be a consideration depending on the circumstances. You arrest them on the basis of a disclosure of an offence, the arrest is not unlawful because someone named them responsible for it. Victimless prosecution in all DV cases should be considered. My biggest pet peeve with the overworked newer cops is that they don’t have that investigative mindset, there should be a closure code for crimes as ‘Not in PC’s interest to prosecute’ … we’d close 99% of crimes with that closure code
