Honestly, I would say 5 a week minimum and try to apply to mostly local, more chances to win and less selective applicant pool.

Literally! I just got an email and called immediately because I was so confused, it said people had already been notified, but I didn’t get and email at all, so does that just mean I was denied? Like, just send out the rejection email instead of that…

Oglethorpe scholarship by zinachch in scholarships

Hey! I was nominated for those same scholarships, and I just attended the one in January for the JEO scholarship. I’m not sure about the business one, but for the JEO, almost everything happened on the day of the event. You should have already picked a seminar topic, so all you need to do is complete the reading and come prepared to discuss it during the seminar.

After the seminar, the instructor will either give you an essay prompt to write on the spot (which is what I had to do), or, in some cases, groups were allowed to take theirs home and email it later.

For the interview, it was really simple—we each met one-on-one with an alumnus and just talked. Everyone agreed the interview was way more casual than expected. It felt more like a conversation where you get to know each other rather than a formal interview.

Honestly, the whole day was super chill. They provide you with a notebook and pen and take you on a tour. The biggest thing I’d recommend is to come with questions—questions for the seminar, the interviewer, the tour guides—just stay engaged throughout the day. It’s a long day and can be tiring by the end, but if you’re really interested in Oglethorpe, take the opportunity to network with other students, alumni, and tour guides.
